Maburabo 19
Yamase Chihaya has been elevated to the 2nd anime char for March. It is amazing how a character who has only appeared twice, becomes my favourite char of the series. Apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks so too. (And it seems I'm also not so alone in thinking "Pink hair rulez" too.
) However, while Yuuna has been THE appeal of the series and is the main reason why I'm watching Maburaho, she seems to be overshadowed by Yamase whenever she appears. Both in Ep 7 and 19, Yamase descends upon the series like the spring breeze, fragrant with the freshness of the renewed land. Maybe I just too tired with the exaggerated passion of the 3 girls. Yamase, by contrast, exudes a great deal of emotional maturity (very rare in harem-type anime girls) and is very comfortable with her affections for Kazuki. This is probably her winning point against Yuuna. Of course, Yuuna getting jealous over Kazuki is both cute and helps inflame the fragile male ego but the quiet love by which Yamase embraces Kazuki with, feels all-encompassing and is thoroughly Kazuki-centric. (I personally associate jealousy with the 'self' part of the relationship.)
Although this is one of those series like Ai Yori Aoshi and Love Hina where you have no question about who the male lead is going to end up with, I sincerely hope to be surprised and see Yamase end with Kazuki. Of course this would spark a riot and end with the studio burnt down and its animators, lynched. Ah well, can't deny the power of Pink Hair, better go with the flow if we want to see more of J.C Staff's wonderful works.
