Bakuretsu Tenshi 01
Evangelion meets Daphne in the briiliant blue? In typical GONZO style, the series kicks off with plenty of mecha action and fluid CG animation. The series has a post apocalytic feel which permeates so many animes nowadays (Dire need of some fresh ideas here really.) Well at least I found the characters terribly interesting though not exactly original too. Joe seems to have some Rei (Evangelion) genes. Meg appears to be a cross between Asuka (Evangelion.. again) and Naru (Love Hina), while having the fashion sense of Yuna (FFX-2). Sei is still a little bland as of ep 1 and Amy is your customary pedolicious fare for the lolicon in the audience. I know I'm going to like Meg (I know zyl and morit will say Amy.
) No, not because I was once very into Naru and Asuka, nor is it because her seiyuu is also the same for Winry (Fullmetal Alchemist, ~Anime char for April~) I can't exactly put my finger for it but it has something to do with her not being honest with her feelings. Acting tough when she's kind and supposedly disliking guys yet so conscious of their presence. Well, maybe I'm reading too much for the first ep.
Bakuretsu Tenshi also continues the anime legacy of reversed gender roles. We have the mecha-busting, ass-kicking Joe as opposed to the cake-baking, gourmet-chef-wannabe Kyouhei (from Love and Happy Cooking School?!? *smacks forehead*) Yeah we know he's probly going to be the plaything of the 4 girls. (ie the envy of many out there) Ah well, as long as the harem fun remains an okazu (sidedish), the series should not detract from its main thrust (whatever that may be).
