Yumeria 10-12
MEGAMI April issue was the only reason I picked up this series. I figured "If it graces MEGAMI's covers, it can't be too bad". I was wrong (Maybe I should switch subscription to NEWTYPE). Ok, that was too harsh... Yumeria isn't all bad. There was plenty of hilarious moments and honestly I did enjoyed immensely the ridiculous antics of Yumeria cast (esp the lolicon teacher with Mone). Of course having a bevy of bishoujos (ranging from the babelicious to the lolicious*) does add some appeal. There are others who would say the henshin sequences are also a BIG plus but I sincerely hope it's the minority
) But there's just about all that is good about Yumeria. The story was unbelievably lame and the characters were shallow, despite strong potential for depth. My favourite Yumeria girl, Kuyou, was somewhat sidelined by Mone/Mizuki and even given the slight emphasis on Mone/Mizuki themselves, there was not enough jostling space with the other Yumeria girls for proper character development in the 12 eps. Let's not forget part of the series was also devoted to uninspired fighting with enemy hordes looking like Evangelion Angels. I had also secretly harboured the hope that Mone would finally say something other than "Mone" before the end of the series. And thus, I watched the final ep with abated breath since Mone has now been "awoken" and could possibly launch into regular speech.
"Mone!" proclaims Mone. *Roll credits*
It was like the final scene of the entire series was a deliberate mockery of my secret hope. Ah well, it's my own fault for having any expectations anyway. On another note, Nate looks really good in the gothic-lolita outfit. I can see why it's big in Japan. ***** may want to check out Yumeria ep 12... you know who u are.
(*thanks zyl for expanding my vocabulary!)

Did you watch Yumeria in English or Japanese?
Coz my brother and I watched it in Japanese with subtitles,
but recently I saw a preview in English, and it was so wierd….
I want to know what Neneko was singing when she goes “nanoda! nanoda! nano-nanoda!”
Even though the subtitles said “so it is. so it is. so it so it is.” it could be different….

I caught it in Japanese with Eng subs too. I haven’t see the eng dub but I believe the ‘nanoda’ translation isn’t too far off. I think the “weirdness” could stem from the cultural difference. After all I don’t see children going around here chanting “it is so!” whereas cutesy chanting kids in Japan must be a common sight. Just a wild shot. Heh.
