HaniHani ~Operation Sanctuary~ 06
Ep 6 was not what I quite expected. When I read "Love Bicycle" from last ep's preview, Honami immediately came to mind. I thot there was going to be some focus on Naoki/Honami's relationship via their daily commuting to school but I was wrong. The angelic Honami appeared for only 2 min this ep and there was again little plot movement. I should have been disappointed but surprisingly, I found myself thoroughly enjoying this sweet lil ep.
Matsuri and Chihiro dominated this ep. It's good to see that despite its premise as an harem anime, HaniHani is not solely developing single-tracked character liasions with the male protagonist but beefing out the characters by focusing on their peripheral frenships too. Thus not only do we see the sweet frenship between Matsuri/Chihiro in this ep but some dimensions of their characters are also expanded through their thoughtful interaction with each other. I certainly like Matsuri/Chihiro a lot more w this ep, especially Chihiro. I was wrong to classify her initially with the Shinobu (Love Hina) archetype (ie the "a..no... a...no..." bashful type). She has a lot more strength of character despite her quiet disposition. Yet, that was well balanced by her subtle declaration of liking with her gift of the white tulip. But I did shudder a little when Chihiro claimed to think of Naoki as the 'Onii-san'. I guess I'm still not over Koi Kaze yet. Speaking of which, next ep is titled "Brother and sister"... *big sweat-drop*. Well, actually I'm absolutely looking forward to it since it could be 1) On Matsuri and her unique relationship with Naoki or 2) a devastating revelation that Naoki treats the wonderful Honami as a sister. Both scenarios are great since Matsuri and Honami was my fav characters in HaniHani and any of them in the spotlight would make my day.
Of course, more likely than not, I'll probly be surprised at what turns up as it was with this ep.
