Mai HiME 02

This is mostly a characters induction ep. It was well balanced with humor (Mikoto and her scorching bun), some character development (Mai's relationship with her bro and flashbacks of her past) and minor plot revelations (my weak Japanese didn't catch some of it :P ). Throw in some high mecha/monster action at the end and we have yet another excellent ep of My-Hime.


I'm not sure of the series length but if it's only 26 eps, that's one huge cast for My-Hime. Ender's observation for Soukyuu no Fafner may possibly be applied here: Huge cast + 26 eps = Certain deaths. It's hard to imagine any of the characters dying since it's a utopian school setting (bishoujos galore!) and the mood has been pretty light so far, in fact even frivolous at times. But since it's Sunrise, the studio responsible for Scryed and Gundam SEED where the body count would shame those culling chickens in my part of the world (bird flu you see)... expect the unexpected.


Can't wait to see the extent of Mai's powers in the next ep.
