Futakoi Alternative 01

What a ride! Its little promo certainly did not prepare me for the energetic high-action that characterised much of this episode. The wacky humour that accompanied the action was equally fast/furious and executed with well-timed, comic precision for maximum laughs. (Sara chan's interrogation and delightful declaration of window-jumping were priceless.) Throw in a soft, sweet finish to round up the hard, hilarious action and we have a most versatile winner on our hands.

Futakoi Alternative is all and more than I can ask for as the successor to the Futakoi franchise. I was actually worried it might be a re-hash of the worn-out romance story (with a twins twist) but the debut totally vaporised that apprehension. On top of that, the character designs are a huge improvement from its Fall precedessor and I really can't wait to see the rest of the twins in action.

However, despite the fantastic action and side-splitting fun, it was actually the final 5 min of the ep that captivated me. I was thoroughly mesmerised by Sara's and Souju's unquestioning devotion to Rentaro. I simply cannot forget the childlike glee as they dive into his arms and the glowing bliss from their faces as they snuggled against him.

2 girls, 1 hug.

No jealousy.

No catfights.

Just a pure Rentaro (or insert protagonist name)-centric love.

There you have it. The 4 theses (2NNJ ~patent pending~) that forms the core of the ULTIMATE solution to all harem dilemmas. Oscillating between Suzumiya Haruka and Hayase Mitsuki? Can't decide if Asakura Nemu or Yoshino Sakura is more lolicious kawaii? Waver no more! 2NNJ says you can have them all!

Man, the amazing insights anime grant. Can't wait for more enlightening revelations from FA. :)

  1. soooo tis series has nothing to do with the futakoi?

  2. It features the same characters but that’s about it. Whole new script and premise.
