Ichigo 100% 04

Satsuki chan! What a babelicious addition to the Ichigo cast! I was initially rather wary of Satsuki since her character design (as seen from the OP) conforms to the bimbotic/seductive harem archetype which I'm not particularly fond of. But her first encounter with Junpei totally demolished any pre-concepts I have. Instead of a sexy/wanton siren throwing herself at Junpei, we have a violent man-hating feminist who would have thrown Junpei to the sharks if they inhabit lakes. In fact, some of the proceeding scenes of Ichigo 04 could well have been lifted straight from Love Hina or Full Metal Panic ~Fumoffu~. However, while Satsuki may have the same kung-fu sensei from Narugesawa Naru or Chidori Kaname, she differs greatly by having the MOST forthright personality. Where such animosity-turned-attractions usually result in the girls becoming most constipated about their true feelings, Satsuki breaks tradition by openly declaring her fondness for Junpei to the entire school. Man, what a refreshing change to the tired/worn harem landscape!

This ep also affirms a gene that I'm VERY sure exist and is absolutely critical in the making of a harem male protagonist; the "tripping" gene. *Checks the human genome for confirmation*

Tripping gene - Greatly increases the tendency to fall or others to fall onto you, especially pretty girls.

It would be an added bonus if you possess the "strategic hand placement" gene too. (Something which Keitaro of Love Hina seem to have an entire chromosome of.)

Ok, nonsensical rant aside, isn't there a less cliched way to 'get to know' a girl in harem series beside the 'trip-and-grope' routine? Athough I must say, cliched as is it, I still enjoyed Ichigo 04 very much because of Satsuki all encompassing charm.

And YES! Tsukasa chan's back! Can't wait for ep 5.
