SHUFFLE! 08

Taking her cue from fortune telling and her father's gift of concert and dinner tickets, Shia asks Rin out on a date. Of course, nothing goes according to plan, particularly as they keep running into friends. But Rin sees her notebook by accident and is touched. They hold hands in the moonlight in their classroom. (Nb: Ep 7 was my first SHUFFLE! post.)

This episode sets up the Shia-forging-ahead arc which will probably culiminate in episode 9. Since the series will last longer than that, let's hope the other girls, especially Asa-chan, can mount a comeback! I think Rin will come to realise that he needs to choose one of the girls. And that in doing so, the others will be hurt. So he has to choose well and try not to hurt the others too much.

Kaede looked pretty sad and Rin could sense it too. Asa-chan looked sad as well but Rin and Shia didn't notice her. The way she wasn't seen and just slipped away, I think, is representative of her current position. She likes him but he doesn't know and she avoids telling him clearly, directly and without reservation.

Nerine catching them on their little date was quite hilarous, especially how Shia wilted under Nerine's gaze.

Kareha always gets a laugh out of me.

Shima-shima literally translates into "stripe-stripe" or "stripes" or, well, "stripey" .
