Mai Otome 05

Excellent review by Mentar which allowed me to fully understand this episode without the sub. I hadn't realised at all that Mashiro's maid is Aoi! And while Chie is debonair and cool (though nowhere as cool as Rosa Gigantea Sei Satou!), she hasn't actually contributed very much to the plot yet. Hope they'll go into some Chie-Aoi history since they obviously know each other in this universe as well.

Quite good to see Aoi forcefully reminding Mashiro of her duties. Aoi should be Prime Minister or special advisor to Mashiro since (1) she can tell when Mashiro's being fobbed off by Nagi and (2) she actually dares to say it to Mashiro's face. Mashiro is such a moron but I really can't think of her as a bad person.

Needs more ShizNats yuri.
But good to see Nao in action - always have had a soft spot for her. And her thugs wear the same "uniform" as her as well. (See Mentar for screenies. Speaking of which...)
Next episode, Erstein and Nina have a hot-french kiss while wearing school swimsuits. W00t! Seems that there was an indication in Ep 2 that Erstein has a soft spot for Nina when she starts to worry after hearing Lilia, Yayoi and Miiya gossiping to Tomoe about how Nina might lose her Coral No.1 ranking. Thoroughly decent girl, though I suspect she'll just spend most of the series quietly pining for Nina.
[Edit: 2005-11-06, just saw the Doremi sub. Had completely missed the bits about the Tokiha mushroom soup, that it's Mikoto's favourite food, its nickname is Mai-mushroom and is related to having large knockers. LOL. Also really laughed out loud at the Arika-dreaming-she-is-waking-Nina sequence, partly also because of the pun on "It's the first day of my dream!" ("Yume" [?] has the same double connotations that "dream" in English has). And Juliet Nao Zhang actually a gang (called "Juliet") and gang turf!]

Haha yea I heard the Tokiha mushroom part, but I never concluded it was relevant to her cooking. Wow I can’t believe I totally missed it…but now I know the reason why Mikoto is fat! LOL. Also poor Mikoto…she was blamed for something she did not commit, just like Arika. Stupid Tomoe..and her accomplish! I hope they get whats coming to them!!!! However I don’t think the other girl is to be blamed because maybe she was blackmailed.
Also I wonder if Mai is evil? I highly doubt it, since she was a triassic, but I might be wrong. Maybe she has been brainwashed? Whats your speculation on this?

Hmmm, I missed the part about Mai being a triassic – different uniform trimmings that you saw from the Backstage poster?
I doubt she’ll be evil. One of those SUNRISE themes where people often fight not simply because they are bad or evil (although the Blue Cosmos in GS/GSD are) but things get out of hand because although they do what they believe is right, the means by which they do it become more and more extreme.
I get the feeling that Mai is the triple-flame girl in the OP, is really powerful and opposed to the Shibaratsu. Might well be Rado’s companion (who is voiced by Reito’s VA I think). Might fight against Arika and co at first but may turn out to be an ally.
Just speculation. What do you think, Problematic?

Rado’s companion? Was that the person with the fruit or the person with him during the intrusion of the coronation? Haha they might be the same person. Umm…people were saying it was either Mai or Midori. Yet I think it was Mai!

Sorry..for the double post, my mouse slipped! Haha I have problems!
Well Dav and I were having a debate on who was Natsuki’s rival. I said Rena, but I was mainly leaning towards Mai. I stated she wasn’t Natsuki’s rival because there was no way she could’ve caused Natsuki any grief unless she turned evil. Also if Mai did turn evil, than why would they acknowledge the fact that she attended Gaulderope, because wouldn’t they deem her as a disapointment? I was basing this on the poster and how she used to be a triassic. Dav speculated that Mai probably disappeared without telling Natsuki or anyone and thus it why she was grieving. Maybe the Shibaratsu brainwashed her…or blackmailed Mai.
Oh yea I thought she was a triassic considering the poster of her in the store, “Backstage”. Shizuru, Akane, and the girl that protects the old fart were Triassics, so Mai had to be one too right?
Yea as you can tell I got owned by Dav…haha all it took her was like 4 comments.

Well, in any case, if I’ve learnt anything from Mai HiME, it’s not to take the series too seriously; I can speculate all I want but there will be surprises and most of all, follow the Memento team’s discussions which were often so prescient that it was scary.

Haha true, but thats what makes the series fun. It brings everyone together, so they can agree or disagree with others. Hehe I love it!
Mentar- one word…WOW! Haha yea he is so precise it is scary sometimes. It’s insane how much they can interpret out of one scene, while the rest of us are still trying to figure out everyone’s names. LOL
