FATE/Stay night 06
Would somebody... anybody.... for the love of Saber PLEASE just kill Shirou? Onegai shimasu!!
Saber don't deserve such an idiot of a Master. I can forgive Shirou's incompetence but I cannot stand the hypocrisy borne of his naivety. It's laughable that he considers giving up his command seals a betrayal to Saber but not his suicidal act of facing off a Servant. It's absolutely irresponsible to put his life unnecessarily on the line considering the repercussions his death would have on Saber. Also, while Rin might have been grateful that Shirou 'saved' her life, I maintain that if he keeps playing hero, he will be the death of Rin too.
Honestly the best thing that could have happened in this ep would be for Shirou to hand his seals over to Rin. This would allow Saber to come under Rin's lordship leading to Rin X Saber hawt yuri action for the rest of the series giving them a decent shot at the Holy Grail. Alas, Rin just signed her own death warrant by her pact with Shirou. As mentioned earlier, I'm not against Shirou because he's useless but because he's short-sighted and immature. He alone is the single GREATEST threat to Saber's well-being and like Archer, it makes me sick to hear his grand speech of protecting Saber or lofty pacifist aspirations of justice/winning the Holy Grail through zero-deaths. He sounds terribly like a 6 year old brat with a messiah-complex but no means of achieving it.
I'm not sure how I can stomach the rest of the series when I despise the lead so much. Sigh, Rider should have done a better job cleaning him up. I wish they'd make Archer the real male lead.

I couldn’t agree more with every single word you posted in your entry…
I thought Shirou would actually be the first male lead in a harem series whom I don’t despise but after watching the past few episodes, my opinion has completely changed. Sure it may be noble and heroic if he thinks he could fight in Saber’s place but what he did was plain stupid and irresponsible. No offense to any Shirou fans but I just had to get this boiling rant out of my mind -> Never have I seen such an idiotic moron before…
GAH!!! Just surrender your seals to Rin already, dammit!

Zyl: LOL! You know me too well brother. I’m eyeing the Sakura figurine now… heh.
Honestly I have faith in Type-moon’s work/character design but my doubts lie with Studio DEEN’s ability to bring out their charm. Already they are making Rin an inconsistent character as she flipflops between engaging and aiding Shirou (Very poor justifications for her actions I might add). I can only hope they don’t mangle Sakura’s character.
Thanks for non-spoilers
If Archer takes centre-stage, I will celebrate. He makes a lot more sense and has a very good grasp of what’s in for the Holy Grail contest. A sign of maturity which the current male lead thoroughly lacks.
Dav: Thanks for the affirmation.
I rewatched Shirou’s fight with Rider and concluded the latter could have off him at ANY time…. easily. In fact, I was just thinking, in SUNRISE’s hands, Shirou would have probably died 10x already

Well, if things go ANYWHERE close to the story arcs in the games, Shirou may recant his completely (and naive) ‘pacifist’ stance soon enough, especially once a) people close to him die or get hurt, or b) when Saber gets her ass nearly killed off trying to protect him… again. Or else he’ll lose Saber to Rin, and then get to watch from the sidelines for a while.
Of course, they may also go along an original route and actually kill a few characters before their time, which may bring Archer’s prediction to the forefront of Shirou’s mind.

Thanks for letting me a little into the game arcs.
I hope Studio DEEN would have the testicular fortitude to kill off characters since Shirou’s character development surely calls for something as drastic/life-changing.
Very suddenly I fear for Sakura chan…. >

I was thinking a scenario where someone kidnaps Sakura, Tiger, or another innocent and threatens them with death unless Shirou hands over Saber’s command seals. Saber wants to fight and Shirou orders her not to, instead handing over the seals to obtain the release of the hostage. Then the new master orders Saber to kill the innocent using the seal along with Shirou, and then the whole mess ends with either the new master or Saber getting killed, with Saber’s bitter comments to Shirou about how she’s been forced to break her knight’s vows because he wouldn’t fight for justice.
Now if Studio DEEN would do that, me love them long time.

KSamurai: *melt* Very nice artwork! Thanks for the link! As for the artist… I know next to nothing about these dojin masters. My guess would be… Tony?
a wild guess lol!
Hasslich: Wow! You sure know how to pick the most painful path for all!
If it goes along these tracks and Saber or Sakura dies from Shirou’s naivety, I too will love Studio DEEN a long time (if their deaths are well executed) but I will also take to Tokyo streets to burn effigies of Shirou.

Well, Shirou will have -earned- that outcome, won’t he? I mean, there’s bad endings.. and then there’s REAL bad endings, and I’m kinda hoping the anime follows the ‘worse’ outcomes if Shirou stays the way he is… which is basically the same guy at the start of the series, who’s an obvious pushover that’s died once because he was unwilling to fight. If he survived the above mess by having Rin kill the other Master while Archer fought off Saber’s determined attacks… well, Rin could at least get in the last word, and if they’re tying “Heaven’s Feel” into it, curse Shirou and leave him out in the cold since I suspect any feelings she has for the boy would evaporate in that situation due to contempt and… other reasons.
Of course, they won’t do that – but if they did, I would love them forever, for taking the ‘path less travelled’ in anime… but then they couldn’t sell as much Fate/Stay Night merchandise due to Shirou-hate, so they probably won’t.

yeah, i kinda know the full details too (cosican’tresistitanymoreafterwatching3episodes) but i’ll just follow the pacing of the anime when stating my comments.
I pity shirou. Bcos, he wasnt ‘trying’ to be naive. He seems to be ‘born’ that way.
Still, i kinda like his one-sided (pure?) kindness if i force myself not to consider the consequences of that.
Certainly, it would have been great if Rider had whipped Shirou to tears such that more senses get pumped into him before rescue came.

Eh Stripey, actually it’s pretty ironic for you to crticize Shirou for his Champion mentality – you always claiming to be Sir Honourable, Righteous and Pure. LOL
And it’s Tony Taka. Check your email.

Haesslich/Crimson: “…other reasons….”, “….the way he’s born…”. Hmmm the way you guys are putting it…. OMG! Masaka….. Shirou is actually a GIRL?!? Oh oh don’t tell me
Now I’m getting really fired up to catch more of Fate! Thanks for the tantalising tidbits

uhm, anyway, i said the ‘way he’s born’ simply means the camera-man seems to portray him in that manner
