   Hmm, this is a close one between Masuzu and Chiaki. They actually look pretty similar now that I think about it. I’m picking Masuzu, though, due to her cute buns (the hair ones!). Man, those are a turn-on!

   Hung: Haha! seems like I’m not the only one who thinks Masuzu buns are cute, (yes yes I also meant her hair buns) Her cluelessness is very much part of her charm… After Ender highlighted it, I also can’t get her “Pls eat my onigiri” scene out of my head… Kawaii!

   Hey, don’t blame me for pointing out the obvious fetishes Ayumi seems designed to cater to – blame the people who set her up that way in the first place.

   Isn’t Nijihara’s name “Marin” though? She’s cute and clueless… and ranks a close third in my books, behind Ayumi and Maika… but Ayumi is the queen here. Yuri in battle mode’s interesting, but I think that, unless she picks up the battle for Haruo and switches out of Stalker Mode, that she doesn’t have a chance against Ayumi – who, I should point out has already managed to subvert years of brainwashing that Maika has instilled into her brother, in just a few months of being part of the Yoshikawa household.

   Or, to put it this way – who’s the first person who’s name he calls out? “Mamiya-san!” Not Maika, not Chiaki, not Fuyuno, not Yuri or even Marin. And Maika, as shown in Episode 3, has had years to work on Haruo… and memory-hammered him more often than just about anyone in existence has probably been hammered.

   Incidentally, you’re missing the ‘elegant’ shots of her, which is a disgrace. One example’s in Episode 7 when she’s talking with Rika; when Ayumi looks serious and determined. Those are the types of expressions which other girls in the anime are missing.. and what swung my vote towards her.

   Arggghhhh, they all have so many good points – it’s hard to choose! Right now I’m leaning towards Nijihara-san, with Maika and Yuri tied for second.

   Speaking of signature scenes though, I totally agree with Stripey’s opinion that Ayumi’s fiendishly clever “o-shi-ri” ploy is a real gem, right up with Zyl’s Maika screencap. She’s still not my fav character though

   I’d also have to second Haesslich’s assessment of Yuri’s predicament. She really needs to steal a page from Honoka’s playbook instead of roughshodding around so much.

    ahh, this is so tough..

    ok, i’ll cheat by giving all of them a place in my arms.

    1. G3- all animals worship her, lol
    2. G2- every brother’s dream~~
    3. G5- argh, crazy cool wack power maid types always get me
    4. G4- nooo, my weaknesses being hit again. clumsy + innocent + lucky (like that spell deflection) + shouting out about one sided justice = baits me like a fish
    5. G1- evil witches are cool
    6. G6- exercise mania is so funny
    7. G7- so young…and so money minded…kinda scares me about her maintenance.
    8. G8- well, she wont lose out in terms of design. Too bad we dont see her in action much.

    I’ll grant Yuri is unique… but she’s also a member of a class of girl I tend to always root for and “worship”. Strong, assertive, independent, capable — and trying to manage the idea that caring for a guy won’t wreck those other attributes. i.e. coming to grips with the idea that cuddling up doesn’t mean you’re weak and the “cool vs cute” thing that challenges Sakaki in Azumanga Daioh.
    I was already fond of Sakaki in the manga … and when I read the credits for the anime and discovered that Asakawa Yuu was her voice actress (she who voiced Motoko), I thought “how perfect”. The VA for Yuri manages to channel that throaty sort of voice while adding in the additional “moe” that Yuri can generate.
