Fate/Stay Night 9

Very pleased with this episode. Some wonderful animation and fight scenes. Unlike Omni or Mentar, I wasn't at all bothered by the jaw-jaw interrupting the momentum of the war-war. I think a diet of Jin Yong TV serials in my teenage years has trained me to think that fights between top fighters must have a substantial chatty component. And all the blah-blah is actually important - the pugilist who loses the argument or his/her temper first will also inevitably lose the fight itself. (Another major influence from that genre is that falling down cliffs does not signify death but a plot opportunity e.g. Aoi in Mai Otome.) No harem fun this time round but Rin's screentime at the end of the episode was still a treat and looking forward to harem fun in the next episode.

Anime vs Game renditions of this scene.
*Insert phallic light saber joke here*

Exhausted Saber is just so soooo moé!
All she needs now is a lion plushie to hug!

Rin taking Saber to her room and then the latter's up and about!
*Imagination runs wild*
~~~
Sword-training for Shirou. Maybe also a Saber-tan Special. "Eeeh!" and hitting him on the head with a stick. Saber-tan eating bowl after bowl of rice, getting rice grains on Shirou's head, then petulantly shouting: "Tatakai! Tatakai! Tatakai!" Sakura watching them from behind a telephone poll: "Tama tama da yo ne?" Saber-tan sharpening her invisible sword whilst perched on Shirou's head. "Hagette! Hagette! Hagette!" Sakura: "Guzen da yo ne? Korosu!!! ... Ah! Baka! Atashi no baka!"
"Sword-training? That sounds awfully phallic!
Mou... and what about us getting hot n' heavy?"
Shirou: "So how did you get Saber re-charged and on her feet so quickly? Tell me, it might come in useful."
Rin: "Hi~mi~tsu de~suuuu! :3"
I’ll charge you if my monitor breaks because of this entry (I was drinking coke when I read it). Evil Zyl!
The Saber-tan idea was too hilarious ^_^
I retract a bit of my criticism here. Once I got to work with the translated script, it became obvious that the talk was quite relevant and revealing. Still, I’m looking forward to the time when the show will stop pulling punches and fully “get real”, just like Saber did in this ep.
I suspect that the Saber fans will be happy – even I was, very happy in fact – but I’m glad that Rin is around. Not just because without her brains, Shirou and Saber would be stranded, but also because I utterly love her subtle teasing/bullying.
Looking forward to the next harem installment muchly!
Oh shi….
Lucky I wasn’t eating or drinking while I was reading this. Great post there Zyl.
Yeah, this was a pretty nice episode, just for the fights and also Rin goodness. Damn, she hardly appeared but yet she stole the whole episode for me.
As for Saber-tan…. when are you making it?
LOL Saber-tan!! Don’t make me choke on my green tea twice (Been there, done that :p). Lets pit her and Shana together. Ufufufu… Hilarious. ^^
Great entry, btw! Especially the bits on Rin X Sab. Gahahaha, those comments damn funny wei. We know the real reason why Rin volunteered to be in charge of taking Saber to her room. I wonder what hijutsu (??) Rin used… :3
Dang it… Can we get an uncut version?
Thanks, guys! It’d be sooo cool if there was a Saber-tan omake or a fan video.
Yeah, Rin screentime is always t3h win. She’s really the spice that makes all the other characters and interactions even more tasty.
I’m very muchly looking forward to the next episode with its promise of more harem fun – what with nekkid Saber, loli Ilya advances as well as Taiga-nee and Sakura moving in. I wonder if Taiga-nee will arrange for Saber to attend school as well??
Yeah. What’s with the behind the scenes thingie with Rin/Saber moments/!!!
Remember back a while where Shirou came home to find Saber and Rin alone iin the house?
Or the first time Sbaer wore Rin’s clothes and now an unconcious Saber goes to a romm with Rin, changes clothes and wakes up in less than the time it takes to make tea?!!!
i want answers. scratch that, I DEMAND answers.
I hope it’s not gonna be like this all the time. It looks to me like we won’t have the chance to see Saber and Rin ALONE togehter if this keeps up.
They need to do a Rin’s POV anime.
