Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu 05

By far the driest ep of the series. Despite major revelations packed into this tight installment, few were new to this viewer; a strong indication that I should stop reading the online translations really. Nevertheless, KyoAni's efforts to minimise the information overload by breaking it up into digestable portions are truly commendable. Given the huge amount of info conveyed, ep 5 could have easily degenerated to Fate/Stay night ep 3, 30 times over. Thank the anime deities for KyoAni.

There weren't so many 'favourite' moments this ep but meido Mikuru somehow greatly lifts my spirits whenever she flits onto the scene in that sin-inducing get-up. Speaking of which, Kyon's 'stumbling' onto half-dressed Mikuru's happening a little too often. They don't have locks on doors in the future or is Mikuru really a naughty onee-chan tease beneath her loli facade?

Given Itsuki's revelations which practically elevates Haruhi to god-like status, it's interesting that she didn't get her way in pairing with Kyon at that Saturday club outing. It's as if her omnipotent will failed her. Could this be the crux of her fascination with Kyon? Is Kyon possibly the only existence in the universe who is impervious to her cosmic manipulation of destiny? Indeed, as Yuki/Mikuru/Itsuki had expressed, our undisputably mere human of Kyon seems to be a most engimatic anomaly in Haruhi's sovereign design.

Next week looks like an SOS-dan holiday island getaway. Hoping this would also be that mizugi or onsen episode equivalent of a conventional series. (Yuki in school mizugi ftw!)

    Ep00 strikes again… so my analogy of Director = Creator was really true. :)

    Now I just need to figure Kyon out… I get the feeling that all the clues that explain him are laughing at the audience…

    Skane: Maybe Kyon’s role as a disembodied voice outside Haruhi’s sphere of control within the movie is also an accurate portrayal of his place in this universe? Just a wild shot. :)

    Zyl: Bro, I have a small confession.. I do minor ‘adjustments’ to the caps to make them look a little better. This was from a 100mb rmvb encode. :P

    wow, no one is normal except kyon.

    Anyway, another ala matrix i watched was….i just cant remember the name…it has 2 or 3 episodes in ova form i think. The only line i remember from it was “Hedgehog…Delete!”.

    I wonder how suzumiya will go. So far its to my liking :P
    I just hope it wont end up with kyon or suzumiya waking up in some test-tubes.

    My thoery is that Kyon is the Anti-Haruhi. Kyon is to Haruhi like Matter is to Anti-Matter.

    Haruhi – Unstoppable force

    Kyon – Unmovable object.

    Crimson: Actually I was kind of hoping Kyon’s his own grandpa. Maybe Mikuru is Kyon/Haruhi’s descendant or something. LOL! :P
