Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu 06

I'm no prophet of Haruhi but I don't think what I'm going to say is complete heresy, doctrinally unsound maybe. Yes, you can put down that stone now, thank you. From Haruhi 6:3, I believe I may have uncovered the sacred name of Kyon's imouto.

Asahina Mikuru

Well ok not exactly, after all Asahina Mikuru could be an operational handle for this mission. But what I'm trying to say is Kyon's imouto is... *dun dun dun* Mikuru chan. Now before the lynching starts, let me try to justify why this is not mere wishful thinking on the part of a siscon.


Warning: Wild/baseless speculations

Let us first examine exhibit #1

Oooh loli-takeout, delicious... I'd like to upsize to Mikuru pls.

The kawaii poise, the playful wink.... ah so MOE!! These 2 scenes brings out so strongly simultaneously the gentleman and beast in me. On one hand, I have this overwhelming urge to cuddle and protect them, on the other hand, I have this uncontrollable surge to want to do evil haruhi-esque things to the lovely bishoujos. For them to invoke such intense responses can only mean they are probably the same person and my instincts are merely reacting to the same loli-moe genes.

The other supporting evidence would be the dramatic irony embedded in this ep. SHnY is an gigantic irony. The joke of course is on the audience and (gasp!) Haruhi herself. Ep 1 is a clear illustration of this as we have fact masquerading as fiction. And the key verse from Haruhi 6 is, "If you don't eat (your greens), you wouldn't become like Asahina san." There we have it. If Mikuru is indeed Kyon's sister, those in the know would undoubtedly be laughing at how the audience remains oblivious to a clear declaration of Mikuru's identity. That would explain Kyon's natural protective instincts of Mikuru. It also explains how Mikuru never lets slip "onii-chan" since she's been addressing him as Kyon since young (And we know how Mikuru always unwittingly reveals things).

Implications? This may turn into a Star Wars. After all if Mikuru is Kyon's grown-up sister and it's apparent that Mikuru is fond of Kyon (see ep 2's marriage proposal), we may have a Kyon X Mikuru kissing scene (ala Luke Skywalker). Also, I can finally use the term "meido-siscon" here, adding to my growing vocabulary of twin fetishes like yuri-siscon and loli-siscon.

I'm so looking to a "I'm your sister" revelation ep.

    wontaek: Ah I suppose it depends if they subscribe to the linear timeline theory or the one that every moment in time exist simultaneously. I would prefer the 1st for the very reason that casuality is trace-able. The 2nd usually degenerates into a chicken/egg paradox. :) I hope Haruhi employs the first model when she made the world. :)

    Zyl: LOL! Well SOS dan has a few good years to mold her into one. :) It helps that her ‘goal’ is Mikuru chan. :)

    HIS FATHER. Who coincidentaly is the big evil one in a black cybernetic suit and happens to be Gendo Ikari. OSHII~

    Also, we will have a crazy scene where Kyon travels to Hoth and uses that speederbike towrope to pwn AT-ATs.

    And angsty, revenge-happy bounty hunters. Yes. There should be bounty hunters. And HARUHI IS THE EMPEROR PALPATINE.

    first thought: ooo… this is very intriguing… must look into it further… though, possible complex relationship problems may result… *shrug*

    second thought: oh ya… this is the anime, not the novel we’re talking about… hehe… Vol 1, chapter 6 might screw this up a little… if only a little… need to have more of the novel translated before making a finals decision… :D

    You’re definatly on to sumthin… but i would expect Kyon to leave sum kind of impression after hearin Mikuru’s name, cuz she would hav the exact same name as his sister eh?

    kablaq: Must. resist. reading. online. translation…… Maybe you can drop us more hints if the novel reveals more. :) About complex liaisons, could be worse if Mikuru turns out to be Haruhi/Kyon’s daughter. That could then explain why Mikuru’s such a doormat when it comes to her mother, Haruhi….Plus daddy-con’s in vogue too. :P

    Claude: It probably wouldn’t be the exact name but something unmistake-able to the audience like say Naruhiku Asami (an anagram of Asahina Mikuru) I suspect that’s the reason why they wouldn’t even reveal Kyon’s family name. Hehe, just a wild shot here. :)

    Whoa, now that is mind boggling… A very good observation though. I’m leaning towards “no” but hey, if I had to pick a series to put something like that in, I’d have to pick this one.. only Haruhi could will something that odd into happening.

    Then again, if you look at it in another way, I’ve noticed a lot of people pointing out and questioning the futures decision in sending Mikuru. Out of all the others they could have sent, they sent her. Perhaps because she has a link to Kyon?

    Now maybe I’m not so skeptical…

    Heh heh yeah, I believe the Mikuru’s link to Kyon is almost a certainty. The question is how. :) A ‘juicy’ liaison would certainly up the dramatic impact of the series and I’m hoping Haruhi would capitalise on it. :)

    Mindless speculation of the day.

    Mikuru is the lovechild of Kyon&Haruhi, hence Mikuru’s willingness to be tormented by Haruhi, coz mama said so.

    wow, stripey, interesting speculation. I wouldnt have noticed some similar scenes like the finger at chin pose.

    so yeah, i think its possibility that mikuru is a descendant in kyon’s lineage :P

    I’m going with the descended niece idea…. also to add weight to that idea.. the immediate connection Mikuru has with lil’sis — it makes Mikuru offering to let lil’sis stay with her extra sweet with all the time they spend together. This would make a bit less sense to me if Mikuru==lil’sis (I think I’d be uncomfortable seeing my earlier self and all the mistakes I made).

    My personal dartboard has Yuki&Itsuki (they make a wonderful team and seem pretty comfortable with each other) and Kyon&Haruhi (bickering couple destiny) … Mikuru has made many oblique comments and done things that indicate she may worship Kyon but knows its not to be.
    YMMV, taxed where applicable — offer void if conditions change.

    Ah niece.. that’s an interesting angle. :) That would explain her similarity with Kyon’s imouto (essentially her mom). Nice take.

    It appears that in our many postulates, we have more or less ascribed Mikuru to be Kyon’s relative. As long as ‘she’ doesn’t turn out to be a ‘son’ or ‘nephew’, I’m cool. (Hey nothing’s impossible in Haruhi’s world. A side effect of time travelling maybe? :P )
