10 lolicious-imoutos / imoutoesque-lolis of Fall

Since imouto fetishings news has been rather slow on Hontou ni Taihen desu of late, I tried revving up my siscon engine for a "Top 10 imoutos of Fall" post only to realise there are not enough of them from my meagre anime diet of 10 Fall series. Thus the list has been extended to ALL 'onii-chan/nii-san' crooning bishoujos of Fall anime.

Here's my top 10 lil-sister-esque characters of autumn in ascending magnitude of love,

10 - Kamijyo Saya (Happiness)

Oooh only one ep but she's got my attention already! She belongs to that dangerous class of hapless, 'onii-chan, tasuketekure!' imouto that brings the siscon out of any mammalian male. Maybe having Shinobu-vibes (my fav char in Love Hina) helped.

09 - Nanaly Lamperouge (Code Geass - Lelouch of the rebellion)

Move aside Yuzuha, wheel-chaired bound blindness is the new black for imoutos. Although I'd say her odds to survive the series is virtually zilch. Recent anime history has shown blind imoutos to have a high failure rate of making to the curtain call. Plus, as the moelicious imouto of a Shinn-ish character in a SUNRISE production is the surest sign of a death pact. I just hope there's no emo-handphone/origami aftermath.

08 - Kohinata Sumomo (Happiness!)

A non-blood related imouto! *Gasp* Now we all know what that means.... Yes, she can't donate her kidney to her beloved onii-chan! The horror! I have yet to see any studio use that as a poignant plot device but I'm ready to sue for IP infringement. Anyhow I digress. Sumomo is a kawaii, bento-making imouto with a cute ribbon and err well... okay I admit, her main charm comes from the NBR status.

07 - Fujisawa Ruri (Lovedol ~ Lovely idol)

Kawaii! I dig lolicious bishoujos who refer to themselves via the 3rd person. Remember, all you manly men out there, one way to impress girls of our sensitive side is to refer to yourself through the 3rd person. For example,

Stripey: Stripey really wants to eat taiyaki.... *tugs sleeve*

Zyl: *barfs*

Ok demonstration alpha did not go very well because it lacked a crucial female participant. Again, I digress. Ruri is a versatile imouto not only with great seiyuu potential but has elite managering skills and a class A loli aura, able to turn anything that breathes to raging lolicons. Very dangerous. Very moelicious.

(PS: The scenario above DID NOT happen.)

06 - Asagiri Mai (Yoake mae ruri iro na)

Twin ribbons FTW! I'm a sucker for twin ribboned-imoutos, a legacy of my love for the imouto of imoutos, Asakura Nemu (Da Capo). Mai has a that delicate balance of childlike innocence and womanly sensibility. (Extraordinary for this anime archetype) Pity she has no real shot at her onii-chan else her spot in my top 3 imoutos would be sealed.

05 - Fukumine Riko (Gift ~ Eternal Rainbow)

1 of the 2 sister characters, I predict, to snag their onii-chans on this list. A good cook, pink-haired, the school idol, voiced by Shimizu Ai and most of all, NON-BLOOD RELATED; what's not to love?

04 - Gretel (Black Lagoon)

I think I have said enough about the utterly moelicious Gretel. Her sweet 'onii-chan' still resonates in my head.

03 - Minamoto Iroha (Sumomo mo momo mo)

A class S loli and tsundere of the highest order!!!!! Alright, she's supposedly fifteen but her physique/demeanor says otherwise. I was sooo thorougly smitten by her soft-cream act (ep 5) that I had to chew on my tongue to keep from turning lolicon. I warn everyone who produces testoterone NOT to watch Iroha in soft-cream action. Even if you have a will of adamantine, her 'onii-chans' would cut your resolve like ZAFT's Goufs melted cheese. Resistance would then be futile, the Dark Side will engulf you.

02 - Shiori (Kanon)

Ha gotcha didn't I? Well, Shiori DID address Yuiichi as 'onii-chan' and I mentioned earlier all 'onii-chan' crooning bishoujos are fair game. Alright, the truth is I just wanted Shiori on this list. XD Although neither blind nor wheel-chair bound, Shiori wins out because she's a Kanon girl. There, I've said it. :P

01 - Iokawa Karada (Asatte no Houkou)

I'm so glad, soooo glad we don't get a preview of what order of hotties little girls would grow to become. (Imagine all the social ills that would come with it) I had initially believed Gift ~ Eternal Rainbow to be the siscon show of Fall. I couldn't be more wrong. Asatte no Houkou IS the siscon show of 2006 with Karada threatening to break into my top 3 imouto rankings. Frankly, I don't know what Karada was crying about in ep 2 because she has in her possession a body women would launch genocides for. Really Karada is the only unique imouto-loli to fit both the lolicious imouto and imouto-esque loli criteria for this exercise. Indeed, this list HAS to be headed by her, none other.

    Haha, I fully agree with your top three. Scratch that, top 4. I just want to hug Gretel.

    Iroha is very very cute. One of the many reasons I watch Sumomomo Momomo.
    I remember I had a strange hate for Shiori in Kanon 2001… But she’s stunning in KyoAni’s remake. Aaaah…
    Karadachaaaan~! Perfect choice for number one.

    Hmm, the opposite for me. I loved Shiori in the Toei version, but I haven’t been overly enthousiastic about her in the remake so far. Though that’ll probably change when they get into her story(I can remember me crying in her ep in the 1st version; episode 9,I believe) later on in the series.
    I really can’t wait when they get into the real plot of the series.

    Gotta agree on Gretel and Iroha btw, she is also the main reason I watch SuMo^6.

    I knew it Iroha’s Soft Cream incident was going to get her onto the Stripey sis-con radar. Though I think you might want to get your sis-con detector checked it seems compromised by stupid sickly non-cousin thing from Kanon…

    I must admit though Karada-chan being number one was the correct choice. Does it not feel good to be wrong? Truth be told I watch Asatte to see chibi-Shoko.

    Yeah, I totally agree with your Top 5. Top 6-10 I dunno, it is mostly composed by shows I’m not watching on this season.

    But… I’d say Shiori and Iroha are pretty much swappable on that top. Shiori wins because of sick girl in snow, and Iroha for pure hawtness factor (loli/tsundere never dissapoints)… I guess it’s just a matter of what’s your fetish (Hell, I’d even put Iroha on first place without giving it a second thought, Karada can do well on second/third place :P ).

    ps. It was wise to remove Iroha’s pics up there. I watched that episode and… god, it was like turning into lolicon all over again ^^

    I guess we think alike. When I first saw her, that’s the first thing I thought of and I was instantly obsessed… err interested in her character… :P I would have ranked Sumomo higher though… bento-wielding imouto with a ribbon is like doing 9999 damage x 3, then doing Mimic. :)

    Technically, since Kana keeps going onee-chan, that would work too in Otoboku? How about ichiko?

    Eme-chan is someone that should shoot up right to top 3 if u watch that show >_>;;;

    Xellos-_^ / Michael: Ah I just read Michael’s review of ep 1. Looks promising. :) Will give it a shot for the moelicious lead XD

    Tess: Actually I want to hug all 10 of these kawaii-kkos XD KyoAni’s really upping Shiori’s charm with great lines. For some reason, I LOVE her winter wear. :)

    Ravage: I can’t wait for Kanon to go full throttle on the tales too. Although I’m particularly looking out for Kawasumi Mai’s since her story was thoroughly mangled in the Toei version :)

    aurabolt: Ohh nice designs! From DGrayman? Looks like another series to add to my plate…. :)

    Crusader: I sometimes wonder if you are Zyl in disguise since he’s the only one I know who understands my anime taste like it’s inscribed in his palm :P Anyhow, I’m fully immersed in Asatte for Karada-chan. Jealous megane-chibikkos are scary. :)

    quigonkenny: LOL! Indeed! But trust me when I say I rewatch the scene 10 times not for the ero-elements but for the laughs. Especially Momoko’s pathetically poor imitation of the act after. XD

    sagematt: I think if I rewatch that scene another 5 times, Iroha would come up tops on this chart too… For my love of Karada, I must gaman… gaman XD

    deftoned: Great to find another fellow twin-ribbon fetishist! :) A strange legacy of loving twin ribbons is that I have an affinity for twin-tailed blonds. Fate Testarossa and Sawachikawa Eri to name a couple. Ahh, just thinking of them makes me limit-break… :)

    Impz: Initially I was going to write off Kana’s ‘siscon’ because she was using onee-chan but if she’s addressing Mizuho then technically, it’s still a heterosexual siscon… arrgghh.. this trap thingy is seriously messing up my siscon radar. Thanks for the heads-up on Mamoru, will give it a preview. :)

    Stormelemental13: Hmm looks like only Shiawase at the moment. Maybe you can watch it raw and supplement with ep summaries here? :)

    Sumomo is delicious. I really don’t know what I mean by that, but I know that it describes Sumomo perfectly.

    Mai is also great. It would be nice if Crescent Love stopped ignoring most of its cast in favor of Feena screentime, but I am not expecting much in that regard.

    Aside from that, no one really registers on my siscon list this season (this includes Riko, strangely enough). Not that that is a bad or a good thing, it just makes them a different kind of character.

    Well I am not Zyl, Zyl has money to travel to where ever he pleases I have to rely on the fortunes of war, besides Zyl has a PhD in yuri from the University of Moyism which sadly does not accept the GI bill or Tuition Assistance. Also Zyl loves Luna inspite of her association with Shinn, where as any association with Shinn is sufficient grouds for execution or obliterating of a likeness with NATO 5.56, 9mm, 7.62, or .50 cal.

    Still given that you accepted a Chinese wedding and declined a goth costume it can be surmised that you are also part of the Chinese Diaspora as you live in Singapore. The thing I have noticed about the diaspora is that the first generation is invaribly governed by a conservatism especially for cultural idenity and emphasis on education with little variation while their descendants have certain tendancies towards obessions with one sort of thing or another ususually technology. most deviations can be attributed to a reduction in the more harsh discplinary measures or a perpetual struggle to get by.

    Besides there is a simple formula one can use to estimate a Stripey reaction:

    Moe Factor(Sum of Imouto points) = Stripey’s reaction

    Imouto points are as follows and may eveolve as Stripey’s anime tastes evolve/devolve:

    +2 for number of onii-chan vairiations, eg nii-san, something-nii, etc.

    +1 for in-explicit alleged teasing
    +2 for suggestive teasing
    +3 for physical loli status
    +1 if loli status is in contradiction with stated age
    +1 for meido
    +1 for goth
    +2 for referring to herself in the third person
    +1 for shyness
    +X where X equals the number of potentially yuri friends of imouto
    +3 for air of tragedy
    +2 for bedding onii-chan
    +4 for “winning” at the end
    +1 for blogoshpere encouragement
    +6 if sis-con license is under threat of being revoked
    +1 for moe phrase/mannerism such as the much hated uguu, the much beloved squeals of Haruhi-sama induced terror, or THE Kyon Imouto wink

    Bonus points are awarded for uniqueness and/or overly randy acts of sis-con including but not limited to:

    +20 for loli in bag
    +30X for alleged guess at future appearance where X is the factor of looks vs age
    +40 for things Nauzron would have his hide for even suggesting
    +100 if Nauzron says it is okay.

    Simple yes?

    Kefit: I think the only ‘true’ siscon character this season is Karada. :) Depending on how they play the sister card in Gift, Riko may be elevated to that status. I would love to see more tension between Mai and Tatsuya but alas… XD

    Myself, I have yet to catch Otoboku and I’m watching Happiness for Anri in her fabulous blue-white meido/waitress outfit.

    hmm.. afaik, ??? (linali/lenalee/rinalee) is not the main char’s imouto nor does she refer to the main char as nii-san.. she’s the sis of a support char (the person she’s referring to in the pic link)..

    right… I’ve seen Iroha (Sumomo..) in action. She’s actually got a pretty nice figure (elfin but not Momoko 3-sizes=S) so its more like she’s “loli-fying” than strictly loli. Very funny story arc with her though. I had stopped watching the series but if she’s going to hang around I might keep browsing it.
    (Tosses her sidekick and Momoko in “that tub over there” and Iroha and Koushi in the Main Tub.)
    Unfortunately, it looks like there’s at least one more character to split time budget with coming up (little S&M girl voiced by Hirano).

    blind_: LOL! I hope Karada doesn’t go psycho-moe on her onii-chan! But hey that would really up the stakes for the series. Shoko on the other hand, would look very at home with a kitchen knife. XD

    vexx: ahhh a true connoisseur. Personally, it’s always about proportionality when it comes to figures and yes Iroha has it…. (I hope the Mounties don’t come bashing down my door soon. XD) I have to admit, Koushi is a MUCH better man than I am. He persist in resisting Momoko’s advances, sees not the jailbait in Iroha but treats her caringly as one would to an imouto. He has pretty ‘nornal’ tastes since he likes the meganekko class inchou. Although I wonder what he’d say to her SM fashion choices. :)
