April figure haul

I have 'officially' ran out of shelf space with a massive collection of.... 19 figures. LOL! I said 'shelf' because I only have this sole, designated spot for my PVC beauties. So taking cue from museums' practice, I'd be rotating my collection for display. This month's theme is the very enterprising, "Standing figures". *Pats self for originality*

Anyhow, those who have been following my blessed journey of amassing sculpted bishoujos may have noticed new haremettes from the above portrait. Yes! After a quiet three months, acquiring only Yumil and Haruhi, April marks the joyeous entries of not one but three very lovely ladies to my collection. All beautiful and dangerously well armed with a bow, a rapier and a chair respectively. I've been warned to be nice in case they Gulliver-travels me in my sleep.

Introducing the 3 lovely ladies, from left to right:

Elwyn of Shining Tears fame, Saika S. Farnese from Pastel Chime Continue and meido Saber of the Fate franchise.

Elwyn is my first figure from Eyescream and frankly I was REALLY apprehensive since I stumbled unto not so flattering pictures of Elwyn after I preordered her. Thank Haruhi, she turned out well. Elwyn is the first of Eyescream's series of four Shining Tear's figures featuring doll's eyes and probably best imho. Still her beauty is not enough to induce me to watch Shining Tears X Wind given how wooden the characters were in ep 1.

For the babelicious Saika, I commend to all super rats's fabulous pictures. Her detailing is great and paintjob, wonderful. But I do have 2 issues with this figure. My other half who has an eye for figure flaws pointed out that Saika's eye do not have the same equi-distance from her nose and quite noticeably so. Worried that I may have had a bootleg (since I didn't get Saika from my typical/trusted source) or a badly sticker-ed figure, I checked remaining Saikas in the shops and online reviews to find the problem to be the sculpt itself. The 2nd issue is her stability. Alter has gone to great lengths to ensure Saika's weapon be made of extremely lightweight material. Sadly, that didn't prevent her from leaning just on Day 2 of display. There just isn't sufficient support given that her 2 points of anchor form an axis perpendicular to where the real weight is distributed. Am currently brainstorming for recification measures. Nevertheless, I love her no less, since she now invokes all my onii-chan protective instincts as sickly imouto-types do in anime.

And finally, meido Saber. I'd admit I don't love my figures equally and in this latest acquistion, meido Saber is my favourite. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Months ago, when Zyl and myself were reviewing her candidature for my harem-ship, we were immediately drawn to the blue ribbon at the back of her hair. The azure blue was so striking amidst her black/white outfit that it brought an invigorating vibrancy granting life to the figure. Indeed, the ribbon makes me want to display her back instead of front XD.

With these three goddesses, it looks like a figure lull for me til June. I need breaks like this to keep my "12 figures a year" quota. Will probably do a half year figure report when Yuki comes in.

    You need yourself a glass display cabinet my friend! I don’t really like Maid Saber that much, however I do have the Maid Rin on pre-order. Also my hat off to you since you put effort into rotating your figures. I couldn’t be bothered doing that and with my extensive collection it’d be more of a hassle.

    Yo bro, don’t mind me being kaypoh but the photos are all over-exposed. I’ve done a quick Auto-levels adjust and over-wrote the old photos.

    Congratulations on the new acquisitions. Meido Saber definitely tops. ;)

    I have Maid Saber and Saika on pre-order with Rightstuf hopefully I will get Maid Saber.

    With the uncertainty of whether I will actually get Yumil form the local I pre-order form. This time around i am pre-order both of the new Queen’s Blade Release form HLJ

    The Meido Saber looks better than expected. I find her face in this figure to be pleasant. I really can’t wait for mine to come. SAL is taking forever. First and last time I do that, since I really hate waiting. I’m surprised Saika is leaning (I’ve seen other people complain about it). She’s still level for me, thankfully and I hope she stays that way.

    If you are going to have a museum I hope you plan on etching some serial numbers to keep track of them. You know when they are on loan to Zyl’s museum. If only my wallet were a bit bigger…

    Adun: Yeah, I REALLy need that glass cabinet. The dust accumulating on my figures is worrying. As for the rotation, it worries me that I like the act of putting in and taking out figures from boxes… I think I need help XD

    Zyl: Thanks bro! What would I do w/o you. :) Heh, you know what happened to my ‘frenly’ photoshop so I tweak images manually using a crapping image software. Really thanks for enhancing their colors. :)

    Crusader: We use the latest voice recognition technology. My figures respond to ‘nii-san” while Zyl’s, “aneki” Serial nos. are a thing of the past :)

    personally, i would have gotten the swimsuit version for elwing along with the other girls. =D

    anyway, about the FSN visual with saber standee. its worth it. Why? its binded like a drawing block, so u can actually tear out the pages nicely too!

    I had all three figures pre-ordered for for a while. Sadly, I dropped Saika and Saber halfway through. I personally like Elwing for all the stuff that she’s wearing and rather exposed clothes. I didn’t know Saika’s eyes were out of proportion… I love Saber but I already have too many figures of her. I noticed that her maid outfit was painted in single colors without any shadowing. That reallly threw it off for me. If I had the money, I would purchase all three for the hell of it.

    bj0rN: Thanks for the info on the visual collection. :) I own one for DCSS and it’s good to know they maintained the standards.How about the pictures? Many new pictures exclusive the the visual mook or are they just MEGAMI rehashes?

    Baka: After having Saika for 2 weeks, she leaning quite badly so maybe cancelling her order was a good idea. XD But I still commend to you Meido Saber. :)

    I have to admit I not a fan of the doll eyes on the Shining Tears characters – they’re kind of unnerving, and don’t really look T2ish. The sole exception is Mao, who gets a very appropriate cat’s-eye look.

    I’ve seen all doll-eyed figures of this series and personally the only decent one is Elwyn. :P Mao’s eyes have too much red giving her eyes a bloodshot quality which is creepy. Anyhow I think I’ll just stick with conservative stickered eyes :)
