Fate/Stay Night Visual Collection

Kinokuniya had 20% off storewide yesterday and since I'm still high from my AIR boxset purchase/dry from the recent dearth of figure purchase, I resolved to buy something from my favourite bookstore.

Frankly I would have much preferred the Nanoha Visual collection but there are apparently more lolicons in hiding in this country than I realise for it was sold out. I bought the next best thing in the store, Fate/Stay night Visual collection.

Such visual collection series (also of the MEGAMI franchise) and the MEGAMI Deluxe are the reasons why I have stopped acquiring MEGAMI magazines. It's interesting that for my figures, the motto is "Display" but for anime posters, it's "Hoard" (there's the occasional "Cheekrub" of course.) I suppose figures stand up to elements much better than posters and since I intend to pass them on to my descendents as family heirloom, the visual collections and Deluxes with its higher print quality serve this purpose better.

Back to the F/SN visual collection. I've to admit I'm not a big fan of the anime series though I am in LOVE in most of the female cast. For this tanuki, F/SN should have either gone Heaven's Feel or Apron wars (ie harem route) And my latter preference is apparent from the posters I have chosen to represent the visual collection here.

And so the Evil MagazineTM (CR:Moyism) does it again, prying hard-earned cash from my miserly fingers with beautiful publishing and bishoujo allure. I thank Kinokuniya for mitigating the financial blow. Now to get my paws on the Nanoha collection....

    the best thing about this is the binding. its like drawing block where u can tear it out if u feel like it without destroying it

    haha… Hey, look at this way… at least you also got a kick arse Saber standee as well. And if it makes you feel any better, I wanted to pick up this Evil Magazine(TM) as well when it initially came out but was a bit short funded at the time.

    … oh yea, doesn’t the Nanoha collection with a standee as well? Was it of Hayate or Nanoha? Or am I thinking of another magazine entirely?

    The image with the PS2 kinda makes you wonder just what scene Rin is showing Saber…Well, I never played the games, but they’re “clean” aren’t they? Or Saber may just be in awe at how awesome she looks in the games :P

    bj0rN: Indeed! That’s what makes the scanning a simple/non-destructive process and I love it :)

    moyism: I still remember what you said many moons ago about F/SN breaking our banks. Alarmingly prophetic! XD And oh yes, the Nanoha visual collection is of the same MEGAMI publisher and comes with not one but TWO standees of Fate and Nanoha! *stabs self for not looking out for it* No wonder it was sold-out here faster than one can say gao :P

    Asrialys: Haha! exactly what I was thinking! Since it’s PS2 there’d be no ero-content so Rin is probably showing her a secret move even Saber didn’t know she had. Either that, she was showing a spoiler about the true identity of Archer… XD

    Rin should be playing with a Wii. PS2 is OK but for Pete’s sake, this is fate/stay night! Characters are supposed to be cool!
    Dang, I want a Wii.
    P.D:: I’ve started buying Megami a couple of months ago and the delicious posters keep me drooling all over. If I ever buy the Visual Collections, that would mean instant came every time I look at them, so better not.

    I guess our taste figure really do differ. i found plenty of figures to buy and i have 10 on pre-order with HLJ.

    Also my credit card blames everyone here for being overwork like this>_

    Kenny Liu: Yes kinokuniya it is :) You may want to look through all of Gakken’s visual collections. All very worthy buys.

    Sherman, the Ramni: You may want to give the MEGAMI Deluxe a chance too. It’s basically an aggregation of the best MEGAMI posters from the various MEGAMI issues. While the posters are not as big, it’s a great deal more economical and better for keeps :)

    Beowulf Lee: Keeping my figures crossed. A Tsukihime variant would be nice too…. Kohaku! Hisui! XD

    Xellos-_^: Goodness! 10 pre-orders! I believe such financial martyrdom generous expenditure is known as “to moy” in aniblogging circles XD Gratz on your buys! What are the latest figures you are acquiring? I just placed a pre-order for GSC’s Alicia (Aria) and MaxFac’s Ryoko (SHnY) :)

    Xellos-_^: LOL! I’m so excited for you! So many figure beauties coming your way. Contrary to what you believe, I think our tastes coincide quite a bit. Many of those your pre-ordered, I seriously considered. But I eventually gave up for size reasons (1/7s) or series issues (for example I hated pumpkin scissor even though I love the Alice sculpt). Do post pics of them when you receive them yah? :)

    Gratz on your buy! :) Although it’s not strictly a visual collection. The closest thing in the market I believe is MEGAMI Deluxe vol. 7

    It’s a collection of A4 sized MEGAMI posters with a good section dedicated to Haruhi. No prose, just pretty pictures. :)

    Let’s hope Gakken comes up with a visual collection for Haruhi soon. Its quality is a HUGE notch above even the outstanding MEGAMI Deluxe.
