   Hmmm, most of these that I’ve seen I have obvious choices (except sola… which isn’t far enough along for me to decide). The other ones I can think of also I had pretty clear choices and usually preferred someone not in the “main pair”.

   ah well.. so it goes…. Mai (Kanon) for the win (now with free bonus who can cook!)

   One thing people often don’t realize is that polgamy is only illegal in so far that you’re not allowed to marry more than one person at a time. Having multiple partners or even a harem is otherwise perfectly fine. The tradition of marriage made sense until 100 years ago. Nowadays when men and women are both employed and economically independent from each other, there’s really absolutely no reason for any such restrictions. That certainly doesn’t mean polygamy is for everyone, not everyone wants to marry either. Nonetheless I find surprising to see how backwards even fictional romance is. You’d think that at least some authors would make up their minds and give us some stories which don’t follow a basic n:1 -> 1:1 compression routine. Well, there are some “harem comedies” which don’t end with a final pairing but that’s usually just to keep an option for another season.

   I think, while we’re going for classic matchups, you’re missing a good ‘rivalry’:

   Sia vs. Nerine (Shuffle!) – the god vs. the demon; plus, a tag-team bonus as well (don’t ask if you haven’t seen the anime…)

   Kaede vs. Asa would make a good, and canon conflict for that series as well. Although I must say the correct answer is E) Mayumi. ^^

   But then again, to each their own. Although I fail to see why some don’t have a ‘both’ option; H&K Twin Meidos, I’m looking at you. (although, personality-wise, I think Hisui might be a safer choice)

   What about Futakoi Alternatives Sara and Souju? Rika vs. Ayumi is my favorite of the bunch, even though I think Rika is the best choice.

   How can he and his love then live happily knowing they built their bliss on the fragments of shattered shoujo hearts?

   The only one that I could not choose between is Kotori and Nemu. During the first D.C series, it was all Nemu, but then in D.C.S.S it was all Kotori. Both have their qualities and I love them both. Although luckily this is based on a game so I can play the game for the best of both worlds, lol.

   There is a very easy way to solve these type of problems. Move to the middle east and change your religion to Islam.

    Duh! We should’t be pitting these girls-from-the-same-anime against one another, we should be encouraging their lovely yuri loving so we can have both AT THE SAME TIME! Make love not war people.

    (tho having said that I do tend to have my favourites in most anime I watch – Matsuri beats Aono, Eri beats Yakumo, Aya bets Tsukasa, Nayuki beats Shiori, Rin beats Sakura (but neither of them can compare to the lovely Rider))

    Personally for me, the choice is clear in most of your match-ups. ’twas tempting to go snarky on some of them, but I shall try to keep this serious. ^^;

    Kotori vs Nemu (Da Capo)
    – Kotori without a doubt. Nemu can… well, you should know my stance on Nemu by now.

    Aono vs Matsuri (Sola)
    – Far too early to decide. Either one could be a psychotic murdering bitch.

    Eri vs Yakumo (School Rumble)
    – I have always disliked Eri’s character. Yakumo is the clear choice for me here.

    Kaguya vs CC (Code Geass)
    – No personal likes, but… in terms of story, I would choose CC

    Cz vs Zefiris (Scrapped Princess)
    – Cz was tragic, but in terms of romance, I would go for Zepheris. Only in relation to Shannon though. If I had to choose for myself, it would HAVE to be Raquel. I mean heck, she’s my Avatar for a reason. ^^;

    Rin vs Sakura (Fate/Stay night)
    – Despite the opinions of the majority, I was never infatuated with Rin. Sakura though, woah baby. Rock the Heavens and Feel it up, lady!

    Kokaku vs Hisui (Tsukihime)
    – Kokaku has too many issues to make me like her. Hisui on the other is a winner.

    Tsukasa vs Aya (Ichigo 100%)
    – Never watched the series, so… no comment.

    Mai vs Feena (Yoakena ~the game~)

    Vexx: Mai wins for wanting to be a tanuki doctor – NURSE ME, Mai!

    Mentar: Akane was the clear choice for me in Kiminozo. I would have eaten her up during the cab confession XD

    Chris: And I quote Futakoi Alternative to be an example of such an enlightened view. I’ve always thought abolishing bigamy laws or removing the social stigma against polygamy would instantly reduce the world heart breaks by half. Don’t quote me on this XD

    CCYoshi: Actually I almost included Primula vs Asa but I risked being tagged lolicon again I was a staunch Hisui fanboy until I understand the full tragedy of Kohaku’s backstory. Have been torn since then

XD (re Stripey: Kohaku may have a harsher backstory but if you take the stories as a whole I think Hisui’s ending matches and beats any others in terms of emotion. Then again, that may be a reason to pick Kohaku’s >_>)

    On side note, I really believe Noto Mamiko was a good choice as Matsuri’s character has much melancholic, even some fatalistic side to it.
