Maybe it's because I didn't get that many kokuhakus in my life or that there has been a few kokuhaku-potentials that I had regretted not acting upon. Either way, a good anime kokuhaku is always a treat. Although I have to admit, I prefer girl-to-boy confessions more than the reverse. Anyhow, here's a personal list of 15 memorable girl-to-boy confessions
(Warning - Spoiler galore. Kindly proceed at your peril.)

A very promising topic. One odd thing though, I saw only one of the whole list, ZnT 8. Too bad the original Ai Yori Aoshi ep.1 didn’t make it; of course it wasn’t a “confession”, just an announcement. And I see a suspicious favouritism towards DaCapo for some reason.

Pete, I think it’s relative. Da Capo had an unusually high number of romantic moments throughout the series compared to other series of the same genre. No doubt my #1 romance anime still is Da Capo, followed by Onegai Twins (Nakahara Mai does so good in that role).
Stripey, would you mind linking the full-sized SuzuHaru picture? I should have it somewhere, but I cannot find it :p

Da Capo Stripey strikes again
SaiKano… ow. That one tore my heart out and ripped it into tiny pieces, in front of my eyes. Biggest impact scene in all my anime years.
Other notables:
Midori no Hibi, Takako-Seiji. I remember how literally thousands of manga readers held their breath, and 95% of them hoping for the impossible upset…
Robotech, Lisa-Rick. Yes, shoot me. But I remember the last episode of the Macross arc oh so well.
KannaMiko, Himeko-Chikane. After the most bizarre confession ever, here’s one of the most romantic replies ever. Needs to be seen together.
June 4th, 2007 - 17:41
End of Evangelion:
Nothing says love then Choking the girl you want to spend the rest of eternity with.
And can’t forget Asuka’s reply “I feel sick”
On a more romatic and less physical note:
Escaflowne:
Van picking up Hitomi on the back of Escaflowne at the race track.

You have the most brilliant lists nowadays, Stripey.
Although it’s kind of sad that I only recgonize 1.5 of the confessions on the list. (TokiMemo’s the other half; shame that it actually ended that way)
3 from Da Capo? Wow, now I’m really curious to see what that anime’s about.
Surprised you put the one from Kanon 21 up there, while it was an awesome one both for the time setting and character (augh spoiler-avoiding vagueness hurts), it wasn’t exactly memorable for me. But it beats the other confession in Kanon, I suppose.
As for two of my own…I’m going to cheat and specialize in the boy-to-girl confessions here, since there were some good ones:
Cardcaptor Sakura – while it’s nothing spectacular, when you’re building up to one confession for 64 episodes (Yukito), another for 30 plus (Syaoran), it’s memorable, in one way or another. Mainly in the “get with it already!” way, but, can’t hate on my first real anime.
Shuffle! – I was really surprised with how it played out in Episode 18 and 21 – mainly because of the fact that, well, it DIDN’T at the amusement park. It’s odd to see a whole episode build up and then get shot down, which made the real confession that much sweeter (except, of course, for who it’s to). Also, bonus points for lightning-fast confessions in the beginning; Shuffle!’s one of the only series I know where everybody starts out in love with the main character. o_O

Can~vas~ 2~…
Elis’ confession in the kitchen and Kiri’s rooftop confession (the 2nd one) were very poignant.
Rahxephon
Eat your heart out, Akemi. :
June 5th, 2007 - 06:27
Skane, I have to agree with you about those three confessions. Especially the Elise one and the Rahxephon one. That last one made me shed a few tears and had me shaken up a long while afterwards.

Pete Zaitcev: Save for Saikano, I would recommend every anime on the list.
In place of Saikano, catch Iriya no Sora instead. Found it a great deal more touching and credible.
Here you go Flaskis
I love how Haruhi tags a HUGE “giri” on the chocolates as part of her tsundere repertoire.
Mentar: Thanks for highlighting those.
And woah! Rick and Lisa…. I never did managed to finish Macross since I caught it on TV very young. I remember their kissing scene when captured by the Zentraedi though XD
Xellos-_^: Ah.. I knew I missed something from Escaflowne… thanks for reminding! In fact I think I may just go and rewatch the series.
CCYoshi: Thanks!
CCS have got some of the best confessions in anime. I put it down to really endearing characters. As you mentioned, there was real build-up leading to well-grounded affections hence credible confessions unlike the instant 3-in-1 loves so prevalent in harem series nowadays.
And yep, I thought Rin’s affirmation of his affections in ep 21 was rather touching too.
Skane: How. could. I. have. forgotten. Rahxephon?! Thanks for the reminder. I was so shaken after Rahxephon 19, I took a day off anime to recuperate my soul. XD

oh, so you were alive. thought so. as far as I remember, you can only be killed by bishoujos.
June 6th, 2007 - 09:50
Anime / Manga: Suzuka
I think Suzuka
June 6th, 2007 - 19:53
Dervish: Good to see you old buddy.
I’ve been made mortal many years ago when I met my other half XD
Toonleap: Ah Suzuka is a series I need to catch some time. I heard the manga was better though
June 7th, 2007 - 05:42
‘sup.
Good for you.
About confessions – I liked it in the end of The Third (although implementation of this series is outright bad, it was still interesting to me).
Oh, and since you are not closing comments on old posts, I wrote a hueg supposedly wiseass comment to your Code Geass entry (I don’t know whether you are getting feedback from older posts or not so I’m writing this…) well, have fun there =)

Thus far I’ve not really encountered any confessions in anime that struck the heartstrings as much as the anti-confession, where a character gives up another, from Meiling to Syaoran in Card Captor Sakura.
June 8th, 2007 - 23:30
Out of curiosity…
Does “Pony-tail turns me on.”, count as a ‘confession’ of some sort? ^^;;
June 9th, 2007 - 02:33
My favorite remains from Banner of Stars
Lafiel to Jint: I will be sad. Is it not enough?
Such haughtiness disguising the tender feeling. I doubt Jint slept much for next 24 hours.
Rising rapidly: Sola
Matsuri to Yorito: I wasn’t teasing.
Unlike many other entertainment series ( including TV series from any country in the world ), producers didn’t tarry long before a meaningful kiss.
Best confession by a guy: Urusei Yatsura movie 5 : The Final Chapter
Moroboshi Ataru to Lum: How can I forget?!
June 9th, 2007 - 11:03
dervish Candela: Heh, glad you deriving much pleasure from the series! We are rooting for different girls though I’ve to say being involved w Lulu is bad news for bishoujos
DKellis: Ah I rem that.
I thought she exhibited a great deal of maturity though a little out-of-character since Meiling was mainly bratty prior to that XD
Chaos2Frozen: As a Yuki fan, I’d say no. XD On the other hand, “I don’t have special affinity for (girls with) glasses”, now that’s a confession!
maglor: Heh, yeah Matsuri’s ‘confession’ was shortlisted actually. I thought Matsuri’s parting kiss was a downright tease. Aono got lots to learn from matsuri about snagging male hearts
June 10th, 2007 - 06:53
I think the one that was most memorable to me was Love Hina(which i read back in high school) cause Naru spent the entire 1st 11 volumnes of the manga(and the entire tv series — Ova not included) being indecisive… before finally jumping off the cliff in Hokaido screaming “Keitaro suki!!~~”
Oh then there is the one that brought me straight to yurimechamiko land… the omg chikane “frolicking” with himeko in ep 9(i think) was yet another unforgettable moment.
Oh ya then there was this one… the last episode of CCS… My sister was watching it and out of curiosity i went to watch it too lol…
Nonetheless, great picks bro…
June 10th, 2007 - 20:10
Heh, thanks cyw1988.
For Love Hina, I enjoyed the xmas special most. The part at the playground was rather sweet.. not sure if that constitute a confession though
And haha, yeah Kannazuki 08 is THE turning pt of the series. My jaw crashed onto the floor and my tongue rolled ard the room XD
June 13th, 2007 - 07:05
No KKNJ?!?! That was my favorite confession of all time!
Great list Stripey, I been thinking about writing one of these up for a long time, but never got around to it.
June 13th, 2007 - 19:54
Thx! Ah Karekano… my memory of it is pretty hazy. I only remember their ahem first time very well. XD But I’m sure that’s some confession goodness in there.
