Hayate's harem, Stripey's selection

Ayasaki Hayate is one of the few worthy harem leads I've come to respect in recent years. Actually, it's not hard to win my admiration - one just has to prove himself capable of something beyond this tanuki. For Hayate's case, I am in awe of his resilience and optimism in life. In his shoes, I probably would have become a mass-murderer or committed at least one of these not-so-heinous deeds:

1) Sold my organs to the Very-Kind-PeopleTM
2) Butchered lame parents
3) Butchered lame parents to sell their organs to Very-Kind-PeopleTM
4) Deflower Woo Nagi for her inheritance, marry Maria and make Nagi the Ayasaki maid.

The last item hints at a certain order of preference for the HnG girls here at Hontou ni Taihen desu. And no, loli-meido has absolutely nothing to do with it. Now since Hayate's such a great dude, Stripey-nii's gonna come clean with his 5 favourite HnG girls to help undo the knot in his harem dilemma.

HnG bishoujo rank 5 - Saginomiya Isumi

Easy going and far-removed from the illusion called reality, Isumi is the perfect wife for having concubines. Her exorcist powers would also come in handy after Hayate hunt his parents down and brutally dispose of them.

HnG bishoujo rank 4 - Sanzenin Nagi

Too young and too rich, Nagi's perfect for manipulating to become the next Sanzenin heir. Be sure to hire a stunt double when she prepares dinner.

HnG bishoujo rank 3 - Maria

17 but looking like 27, Maria's perfect for passing off as your mom onee-sama so as to maintain an MBA (married but available) status.

HnG bishoujo rank 2 - Nishizawa Ayumu

Move aside blond twin-tailed tsundere (yes, that's you Nagi.) Short twin-tailed imouto-moe FTW! (Think Mai ~Yoakena and Konomi ~ ToHeart 2) In this tsundere age of constipated confessions, it's so lovely to see Ayumu's ballsy kokuhaku. Gotta love that Singaporean appetite too.

HnG bishoujo rank 1 - Katsura Hinagiku

Pinked-haired and mostly tsun tsun with a touch of dere dere, Hinagiku reminds me of Louise with a kendo stick instead of horse-whip. To be fair, Hinagiku's a great deal more sensible and mature making her great wife material.

The world's not perfect, Hayate kun. You would either choose lesser wife material and supplement with an illicit harem or fantastic wives who'd bust your ass the moment your tongue rolls to say "loli". The world's fair this way though.

    Well said–Hayate would definitely win a Smackdown of Male Harem Leads–Saito from ZnT might be able to put up a good fight thanks to his fighting skills, but Takaaki, Junichi, and the rest would go down hard. Hayate’s harem is high-quality too, it’s hard to pick between them, the cast reminds me of Sukuran a little because everyone has their good points and the focus shifts from character to character. If I had to rank the Hayate top 5, my list would be:

    Hinagiku > Nagi > Saki > Nishizawa > Isumi

    I’m glad it looks like HnG is likely to run beyond 26 eps, hopefully that’ll mean more screentime for Hinagiku, Saki, and the rest ^_^

    Hey Stripey, why not do a hierarchy of best harem leads? The top of mine would be Kyon, with Yuuichi as a close second. The bottom of the pile can be that guy from sola (see, I even forgot his name).

    Yes, there is something about Hinagiku that turns me on. I just can’t pinpoint what.

    suguru: Glad to find another endorsing Hayate. He’s certainly worthy. :) I like Saito very much too though having seen only ep 1 of ZnT2, my opinion of him has dipped a little. Junichi of DCI was imho a great harem lead :P It’s the Junichi of DCSS whose innards I want to rip out. ANN says HnG is going for 52 eps. I hope it’s focused on the love comedy/rivalries :)

    Beowulf Lee: Heh, I’ve been toying with that entry for the longest time and I surprise myself who made the list – some of the most condemned leads in animedom. I’m still trying to gather my courage to publish it XD

    In terms of harem leads, I think Yuuichi does a better job than Kyon ^^;

    For Hayate vs Saito, I can’t decide ^^;; They both have their great points, and very weak points :p.

    Worthy mentions should include Lelouch(CG) and Hakuoro(Utawa…), despite not being their main focus, they still did a pretty good job :D

    As for my bottom pile, without a doubt it would contain both Shiro (F/SN) and Rin (Shuffle!)… I’m sure there’s others but those two s(t)uck out the most.

    @Chaos, if you want to see the worst Harem Lead ever go watch School Days. Makoto isn’t wishy washy type annoying but you will be up in arms with the rest of us who wants drown him in boiling pitch. Neither Rin (who wasn’t that bad imo) or Shiro (whats wrong with Shiro) has anything on this guy.

    As for Saito and Hayate, Saito would be put the moves on the girls Hayate while is off training to be a better butler. However Hayate is luckier snce i don’t believed any of the Hayate girls in into S&M :D

    Ahhh yes, I’ve heard of this Makoto and his infamous ‘Exploits’… ^^;

    As for Rin and Shiro… I can’t quite give you a straight answer, but would you accept ‘being an idiot’? :D Shiro, in the anime at least, is quite slow-willed and stubborn. Rin, putting aside my biasness in his choice, is just TOO clueless about the girls…

    (These are just my initial opinions since I can’t quite remember those two shows anymore… O.O)

    If there’s one thing that puts Hayate above Saito in my books, is that he still hasn’t chosen a flat-chested Tsundere loli (Lol, same VA ^^; ).

    suguru: I utterly despised Junichi of DCSS :P I mean the prettiest girl in school walks you to school, helps out daily in yr kitchen and she’s just a fren?? That’s just one of a long list of gripes I have against him XD

    Xellos-_^: LOL! I saw the Feena doll in a mag and I instantly knew she’d be banned in my household. Just might as well since she’s prohibitively expensive. I’d need to throw in my corneas too in addition to a kidney XD Anyhow thanks for pointing her out :)

    Chaos2Frozen: Shiro for me was one of the major reasons for me not enjoying F/SN as much as I should have. In the words of Zyl, “He was stupid for way too long”. XD Shiro = Bottom of the harem pack for me too :P Rin of SHUFFLE on the other hand won my respect after Kaede’s arc. He was a near martyr and continued to live with someone who almost killed him. Admirable :)

    Hayate beats Saito because he’s much more honourable (wrt ecchi department).
