Moonlight Tea Party (Tsukiyo no Chakai ) ~ Tinkle Illustrations

My favourite artwork, of K-Books' Trump collection, has to be the Ace of Hearts gothloli (pic above), illustrated by Tinkle. The Trump collection is, by far the most illuminating gift of 2007, opening my eyes to the world of bishoujo art and educating me about their artists. It prompted my purchase of Nanairo Ice and fueled my desire for Tinkle's illustration collection - Moonlight Tea Party (Tsukiyo no Chakai). But alas! I'm one and a half years too late. Moonlight Tea Party is currently out of print with 2nd hand offers going as high as 12000 yen (it was originally sold for 2600 yen).

Thank Haruhi for Aethereality where I'm able to soothe some of the pain by basking in its, albeit nerfed, digital glory. Below are a sampling of a few favourites.

Tinkle's work features some of the MOST gorgeous outfits I'm seen on a 2D character. They appeal sooo much to the ~~gothlolicon~~ gothloli-fan in me. My only nitpick is that her characters feel a tad too young. Still, I've mentioned before that the gothloli fashion somehow seems best carried off by the lolicious and this, I'm sure, Tinkle-sensei knows better than anyone.

A fellow Tinkle-fan has put together a nice slideshow of Tsukiyo no chakai though I wonder if using something from the soundtrack of Tsukuyomi ~Moon phase~ or Rozen Maiden would be more apt.

Here's waiting for that reprint of the illustration collection.

Those are definitely some gorgeous artworks. Really, the goth loli looks is one of the best kind of fashion that I have seen. Such a shame that it doesn’t always look good in the flesh.

Gah! Some of those girls are from Pattisier’s games, like…Cafe Little Wish, and…I forgot the others. But yeah. They definitely are familiar, and they ARE pretty.

Adun: I can’t help but agree XD I think probably we were first exposed to gothloli fashion thru the 2D medium where the gothlolis are exceedingly beautiful for 2D standards and naturally when we import such expectations to RL, we can’t help but get disappointed. Just one of my wild theories
