I really did see anime-themed canned drinks in Akiba's Animate and Tora no Ana but didn't manage to take a picture as they were too close to the watchful eyes of the counter staff. But as this was Japan, it wasn't in the humongous 1000ml format but a much smaller size, about a fifth?

Aside: I thought that a lack of internet access was cruel and unusual punishment but it's even crueler to have a ADSL connection that you know is working right in front of you but that the old BT Voyager 105 modem's driver isn't compatiable with Vista. orz And then having to spend 24 hours trying to figure out why the replacement BT Voyager 2110 can communicate with the laptop but not connect with the internet (turned out that my ISP requires the use of specific primary and secondary DNS addresses). Ironies of ironies was that most of this information about troubleshooting your connection was online and the technical helpline for home broadband was only available during office hours: Go figure - not that I could understand the fellow's Midlands accent anyway when I got through. Eventually managed to get all the necessary information by going down to campus and using my university's wireless network (the computer labs and library were closed on a summer holiday Sunday). Actually I could have moochd off a neighbour's open and unsecured wireless network but it's not always on and definitely didn't think it was appropriate to bt anime via his wifi.

Yutaka asking about BGR on behalf of a friend. Whenever someone asks 'on behalf of a friend' they're usually talking about themselves. But I am just unable to take Yutaka at anything other than face value. After all, she's got a girlfriend already. Kekeke.

Also there have been numerous mentions of BGR in L*S - something that was completely absent from the schoolgirls in Azumanga (both in the manga or anime) though there was GGR (wrt to Kaorin's crush on Sakaki). Which was something that I found quite weird about Azumanga - the girls (sans Chiyo) are all in their late teens but the topic of BGR isn't broached except for the time when Tomo cut her hair.

This is just one of my favourite scenes from the manga. Great to see and hear it animated. I also find it particularly cute that Minami's eyes are always hidden by her fringe when she's embarrassed about how moé she finds Yutaka.

Stripey's fate when he and Nauzron produce lots of beautiful loli-daughters. Mwahaha.

The dog knows what you drew last summer!!!

Mmm... I would have preferred 'atmosphere' to 'situation' but no complaints. Would have been even nicer if Minami was stroking Yutaka's hair.

Little gem in the Preview dialogue with Misao complaining about how Kagami is always running off to see that 'chibikko' (Konata). You would have thought that people would think Kagami was going to see her twin sister but the main draw for her is apparently pretty clear.
