My anime list – Passion with power

One of the primary objectives of this blog is to sought out like-minded lovers of the Great ArtTM to share, expand and indulge in The PassionTM. Thanks to readers and commenters, this objective has been largely achieved on Hontou ni Taihen desu. But now thanks to Washi too, yet another portal has been uncovered for linking up with communities bound by the same love - myanimelist.
Anyone who has clicked on my 'anime viewlist' tab would know about my meagre attempt to track the series I have caught, am catching or casted into the ocean. Much as I wanted to spruce up that spartan page, the amount of information I had wanted to include (no. of episodes, genre etc) was too daunting for a slothful tanuki. So I kept it clean, just a simple list to refer to when I write my top 20s etc but harbouring the hope it would see better days. Again, my prayers were answered with myanimelist.
Myanimelist boasts of beautiful user-interfaces to track the anime you have seen and acts as a powerful portal to link up with fellow fetishists of the most obscure love. For example, by listing your favourite anime characters, you can identify fellow fans to share and rant about how great say Iokawa Karada is (which incidentally has only 2 fanboys including me - sob!) The vast interconnectivity of user data allows for quick and easy searches for folks of similar tastes so that we can latch onto their anime recommendations. It even has a blog component which is starting to make this one look obsolete. Note that this is said even before unlocking the full potential of the site given the sheer number of features I have yet to explore.
Overall, a great and good-looking tool for every anime fan. Come, join and feel free to 'befriend' me on myanimelist.

Did the webmasters pay you in bishoujo?
September 18th, 2007 - 11:57
LOL! See that imouto-esque bishoujo in the picture? That’s my request for renumeration

Haha, welcome to MAL.

awesome that many bloggers have recently been joining MAL. glad to see you jump in as well. and yes, it is quite addicting XD

Anime List Builder is better.
If only for the fact that its offline. Hate to be depended on the site that can just disappear one sunny morning, because someone forgot to prolong the hosting or whatever else.
Also, the html lists ALB creates are much more informative and prettier than MAL ones.

Welcome to MAL yo~

Interesting, but not slick enough to switch. Right now I have a spreadsheet. Like, in Excel. I keep track of what I’ve seen and add snarky comments about series I don’t like. Witness my shame: http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?image=reslezanimelistwq3.png

An hour going at it, I realize I must be the only genius (fool) to put their comments about the anime in the “tags” section.

I just started a spreadsheet this year, listing just complete series I’ve watched (or re-watched) by season, but it’s gotten large enough already the thought of duplicating it online is just too daunting…

2 for the Tony Taka image. Not so gun-ho about another anime list though, even if it does look interesting (and taking a lot from facebook… at least parts of the layout IMHO).

Asrialys/kei-clone/Lenners: Thanks! Enjoying my stay tremendously! Am thinking of starting an imouto club.. LOL!
Karry: Thanks for highlighting ALB. Will check that out too. I understand MAL allows for backup (export of that data). Personally, I find the online connectivity between like-minded folks through the favourite segments to be half the fun
reslez: That’s a nice list! 100x better than my lame anime viewlist XD Porting it to MAL would be tedious but once plugged it, the community love that comes may just make up for it
Beowulf Lee: No worries, I have been clicking on a lot of things I don’t quite understand. Just waiting for the webmaster to kick me XD
suguru: Heh, I know what you mean. Adding 200 series took me the whole evening. But as I mentioned to reslez, the rewards are good
Hope to see ya there!
moyism: Incidentally, that illustration was published in “Weekly watashi no onii chan vol 2″. I think it’s the cruelest thing in the world to have a sister so beautiful. XD
