Da Capo II 01 – Off to a fabulous start
There's a saying within the harem anime circles that "the first girl the protagonist meet is usually the designated one". Da Capo continues to break this tradition with DCII. In fact for DCII, it's worse since I suspect FEEL is operating with FIFO (first in, first out) principle.
I don't know much about Koko's tale but was told that it's the blandest of the DC girls. Since her story is also tied to Nanaka's, getting her out of the way would be wise so as to usher in the age of Nanaka earlier. And what better way to dispose of her than by having her SUCCEED in a confession right off ep 1. I give them until ep 3 for the breakup. Yes, very generous I know considering it's only 13 eps.
Know that I have nothing against Koko. Sweet childhood friends are usually my preferred choice of haremettes... unless sisters are involved and we have 2 in DCII - the tsundere Yume chan played by *gasp* voice of the Eternal goddess (Shirakawa Kotori) Horie Yui and Oto-nee whose seiyuu eludes me. (Rather obvious who I'm rooting for huh? XD) I have no doubt the series will be culminating to a Yume X Otome showdown seeing how the plot in the game was structured. Nii-san FTW! (Although I'd have to say I swooned a little when Otome first appeared but "Otouto-kun" just don't cut it 
)
Another reason why I think DCII's going to be a great ride is the harem protagonist - Yoshiyuki. DC fans would find his football alarm clock, snack-creation and dream watching abilities familiar. But most of all he appears to be a worthy lead with his kindness/thoughtfulness even though he has already made his first Takayuki mistake - Poor Koko. But well, it's an opportunity for growth and drama.
Can't wait for ep 2.

if their going to go with the siscon route i hope they also give us good nanaka screentime…

Yes, last anime series that had someone succeeded in confession at the first episode ended with a picture of a nice boat, which does not bode well for DC2.

Xellos-_^: Haha! Well I supposed you wouldn’t be rooting for Yume who is Nemu’s spiritual successor. But boy was she cute cajoling Yoshiyuki to make breakfast for her. Plus, it’s Horie Yui. Can you resist?

Still Horie Yui in a siscon role is more than I can ask for. XD Looking fwd to Nanaka screentime too since she’s a tad more playful than Kotori.

Fortunately for us (unfortunately for Koko fans), Koko’s just cannon fodder XD Her role in the series should be over in no time so that we can concentrate on the Asakura sisters’ hissing and scratching over their non-blood related brother.

But I don’t think there will be a Yume x Otome showdown, but rather a Yume x Koko showdown.
Also, not hoping for a Nice Boat ending. I’ve had it with SD.

So I started thinking about previous shows where we had successful first confessions in the first episode. Spoilers ahoy, so be forewarned.
KGNE: Good gravy… Ep02 anyone? I’ll laugh like a hyena if Koko gets mowed like roadkill from a 18-wheeler in Ep02.
*as vehicle reflects in Koko’s eyes*
Koko (to herself): “I regret not having enough fans love me!”
Saikano: BAD END, REALLY BAD END. You know, what with the end of the world, the death of billions, tragic character death scenes, etc… Doubt Da Capo II will end up the same way. If it did, it will be a contender for a “Gainax Ending”.

Sasuga Stripey for the choice of image with your post ^_^ The Koko kokohaku surprised me…a little disappointed Yoshiyuki just accepted rather than make her cry, since in the long run if he breaks up with her it’ll be much more painful for Koko than if he just turned her down. It’ll be interesting to see how Yume, Otome, and the rest of the cast react next episode…

But it does show Yoshiyuki to be kind even though such kindness is cruel. He’ll learn and I look forward to that 
Beowulf Lee/Hyper: Yeah thx Hyper, it’s Nanao Naru (her) But she’s the char designer for ef and Da capo I. DCII wasn’t her work which explains why Nanaka and Anzu has disproportionally big heads in the game. They are fine in the anime though

For Sakura, as long as she’s not living off the blood of infants to keep youthful, I think it’s legal XD
Blogging – There’s really nothing like a little corner of the vast internet to call your own. (although technically my blog is owned by Zyl XD) I think everyone’s mileage differs. For example I know Zyl can whip up 3 well-written entries in an hour while I need a bit more of the same time for a single coherent entry. I encourage you to start one and you’ll reach equilibrium (ie your optimal entry rate w/o becoming a hikkimori, losing your job/wife etc) within 2 months

damn it appears this anime will definitely culminate in an otome yume showdow… The simple fact that he accepted Koko’s confession in the first ep is just as you say, a death sentence to their relationship. Also considering the fact that Nanaka’s connection with Yoshiyuki closely ties with Koko’s..
This only means that the writers are probably planning to write those two girls off the contenders list early and focus on Otome x Yume later on in the ep..
With just 13 ep, the progression of plot will be very fast.

Ok. Let’s see the odd of winning
Otome: 2 to 3 ( Her scenario is believed to be most revealing about inner workings of the tree )
Yume: 1 to 6 ( looks too much like Nemu, Horie Yui voice, had more line in episode 1 compared to Otome and Nanaka)
Nanaka: 1 to 12 ( Potentially most popular girl of the series )
Koko: 1 to 24 ( Well, she is ahead after ep. 1 )
The field: 1 to 24 ( There were some girls appearing often in OP and ED, much more than what the game would dictate. I also know that many would be hoping for victory by 69 year old Loli, Sakura ).

Darn, I was REALLY REALLY hopeing for a Nanaka ending, the only reason I picked up this show was to see Nanaka x.x . Well Otome is fine too, but instead we get Koko who is boring. *sigh* Also Nemu = fail, I really disliked her so I pretty much don’t like Yume either.

I was really hoping for a Nanaka ending too, but with the koko confession, that just basically ruined Nanaka’s chances as Koko’s chances are basically over and Nanaka’s story ties closely with Koko’s…..
On the other hand i really don’t mind Yume and Otome, i feel they are completely different from Nemu! Although I prefer Otome better.

I actually haven’t seen any of Da Capo or DCSS and I never had any interest in doing so. I merely know Jason Miao’s summary: “They get rid of the nekomimi meido and have two siblings get married.”
But now a certain project has required that I learn more about how the mind of tanuki works. I don’t have time to catch up on the previous seasons, but I do have time to follow Da Capo II to experience the power of siscon first-hand.
The awesomeness of Yoshiyuki’s sisters was made quite clear, but the thing that struck me most about this first episode was how good-looking all the characters are. Seriously. Even the random side boy characters are super pretty.

farmboyxp: Great! DC is very different from DCSS which is closer in soul (I believe) to DCII. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
holyman282/maglor: After one week of contemplating, I’m beginning to believe it might be an Otome finale after all. Gao! There’s quite a few signs pointing to it. Will see if ep 2 confirms it
FlameStrike: Nanaka ending is sadly not possible
But I’m hoping she puts up a good fight at least to garner more fanboys. She is after all the grand-daughter of Kotori and I’d expect no less charm from her 
sixten: Glad you picking up DCII! But you’d find the siscon watered down here since the sisters’ relationship with Yoshiyuki is not seen as taboo like Nemu/Junichi. Still I’d love to see the drama from the sisters falling out (if they do) over their pseudo-brother.

Stripey: Actually there is no confirmation that Nanaka is Kotori’s grandaughter within the game. They just have the same last name. Who is to say that she isn’t the grandaughter of Kotori’s sister? It’s never explicitly stated if Nanaka is Kotori’s grandaughter and because of that i’ll just take her for a kotori look alike with the same last name.

Koko: 8.3% ( She somehow managed to keep her pole position after ep. 2 )
