Da Capo II 02 – The most annoying haremette debuts
Tsundere may be a moelicious trait but tsuntsun by itself is a big turn off for me, especially tsuntsun of the physical abuse variety. I didn't enjoy this ep and I blame Minatsu. Sure, she's probably tsundere with the dere component lagging a few eps but at this juncture, I feel like making banana parfait out of her.
Why the double standard? After all I loved Louise who was the ultimate horse-whip wielding TSUNTSUN. Call me shallow but Louise is pink haired and at least 10 times more beautiful than Minatsu. Zyl and myself hold by this truth - We can take more crap from beautiful women (which explains why we sought only to marry the most beautiful) - and that applies to anime characters. Add to that fact that I believe Louise had better justifications to go tsun compared to Minatsu who lashed out at Yoshiyuki unprovoked. Of course there's a sob story for her unbecoming action but a tragic backstory is never reason enough for behaving badly.
Minatsu aside, I'm surprised Koko is still in the race as of ep 2. I was expecting Yoshiyuki X Koko fissures so that she'd be dumped by ep 3. To drag this out any longer is going to hurt the main show (Yume X Otome) and eat into the other more interesting characters' air time (namely Nanaka and Anzu). I was also somewhat disturbed by Yume/Otome's nonchalance about Yoshiyuki's new status. One of the reasons ZEXCS's Da Capo was superior to many harem series was its consistency in characterisation. Nemu showed signs of uneasiness right from day 1 when Sakura returned and when the haremettes made moves on Junichi. This not only lends the character credibility but also contributes to the overarching plot even though the episode may be focused on another character. Yes, Yume showed mild signs of jealousy in this ep but Otome and Yoshiyuki are totally unfazed. Should the 3 of them ever move into a love love situation later on, it had better be well-justified to make up for this lapse.
Still looking forward to ep 3 though.

Instead of making Minatsu into a banana parfeit i would rather feed her banana’s instead
Besides which, she does have a good excuse to get tsun tsun here, how would like to be rudely awakening without even a cup of coffee in the morning by a accident. And Minatsu is cute she just need to lay off the neko mini hat, works for Ama but not her.

I too abide by this rule! “Yeah, but she’s hot on the outside,” is absolutely a valid counter-argument when someone accuses you of being hypocritical.

Can someone teach me the syntax for quotations?

Blah blah blah blah stuff
will give you a quotation like so:

I would like to revise my odds after some more observation
Otome: 59% – Stripey is right. She just seem totally unfazed for someone who is challenging Morimiya Aono for obsession with her younger brother. Still the fame of DC comes from sister-brother love relation and battle between relatives of the main character, thus I still don’t see the reason to drop her below 50%, yet. There still are 10 episodes left and many potent love dramas needed only about 6 episodes to bring out tears from the viewers, so there still is plenty of time left for things to happen. I suspect change in Otome’s attitude from ep.4, and some dramatic moments around ep. 6 for Otome ending to take place.
Yume: 14% – She is acting too much like a typical younger sister who considers her brother as a despicable slave. Still, being closest in resemblance of Nemu cannot be discounted in DC series.
Koko: 10% – The storyline might become better and more powerful if they would drift apart and then come back to each other. I think I saw some hints that Minatsu is presented more as a challenge that Koko and Yoshiyuki needs to overcome instead of something that will break them. Still, the most likely story line is for Koko to overcome Minatsu and Nanaka, only to lose to Yume who will lose to Otome. That would garner her much sympathy among the viewers.
Nanaka: 7% – you can’t do a thing if you don’t even get your name mentioned in the episode.
Minatsu: 6% – They just showed her too much and gave her too many lines to be ignored.
The field 4% – There isn’t many left unmentioned, is there? Anzu has more chance of getting Suginami(?) then Yoshiyuki.

Yes ep 2 was bit dissapointing, I expected more of a development between Koko and Yoshiyuki, but instead got a banana hating robot with a bad attitude.. Personall Minatsu was my least favourite character in the game to begin with and I really resented them spending a whole ep on her….
Koko and Yoshiyuki’s relationship seems a bit puppy love to me from ep 2, it almost reminds me of the relationship between Takayuki and Haruka in KGNE near the beginning. That is too shy to even hold hands lol.
I was also dissapointed with the “lack” of interest Otome showed when Yoshiyuki declared he was going out with Koko. Makes me wonder, is this just a facade Otome is showing to hide her true emotions or is it simply that she just don’t care…

Xellos-_^: I don’t know. With or w/o nekomimi hat, her aesthetic design just don’t do it for me.
She should have been thankful enough not to wake up to a banana buffet served with the purpose of recharging her XD
Kabitzin: Ah thanks for the blockquote tip! Glad to have another share our philosophy.
And no worries, those who call you hypocrite are just jealous of your beautiful gf/wife XD
Beowulf Lee: Between my wife’s wrath for posting her pics online and your skepticism, I choose the latter XD
maglor: I detect a strong bias towards Otome.
A closer look at ep 2′s closing credits bolstered my faith that it’d be a Yume ending. Yume’s name appears right after Yoshiyuki and before Otome in the cast list despite her limited screentime. I think that says a little about her chances.
I’m not quite sure where they’re going to take Koko though. They can’t drop her too quickly either since it’s going to make Yoshiyuki look bad so they had better start early.
holyman282: I sincerely hope Otome is either clueless or just playing dumb since I need my siscon drama of Yume facing off Otome in the later eps
Yoshiyuki had better lose Koko soon before the poor girl goes in too deep to be hurt irrecoverably.

I knew a bit about the game and I got the feeling that Otome was to be central girl of the game, thus high opening chance for her. You will find that every time I revised my odds, I have reduced Otome’s chance. I suspect Yume being high up in the credit due to name value of Horie Yui, but still, it could mean something and I have maintained her as the 2nd most likely candidate. Yume does need more lines to make her presence felt if she is to be the last one standing. A thought just occurred to me: I wonder if they are setting up Koko as an alternative to Shuffle’s Kaede and Nanaka in the Asa role. That would mean a mental breakdown of another nice girl, though…

I guess I was just hoping for a decent ‘robotics girl’ side-story… but I guess the manga Chachamaru will just have to carry me along.
I tend to like any examination stories of “what am I” or “Am I equivalent?” …. even petopetosan addressed this sort of thing with its inter-racial undercurrents.
Artificial beings are another way to examine this… though mostly in anime it devolves into “just another way to differentiate the girls… this one has chrome!”

maglor: At the very least, DCII is keeping us guessing
unlike DCI when Nemu was clearly the designated girl and DCSS where Kotori had zero chance. My money is still on Yume though I really don’t mind a Otome ending after all both are the 2 hottest girls in DCII imho.
Vexx: Many anime tries to tackle the issue of existentialism though few do it maturely or in a balanced manner
But I don’t blame them since this medium is often targeted at the younger demography who are only getting their feet wet in exploring such issues. As for this tanuki, the discussion would probably start with.. “this one has pink hair!” XD
October 10th, 2007 - 18:12
lol Stripey, you and your pink hair again!
Personally I’d much prefer an Otome ending then a Yume one, I find Yume reminds me a bit of Nemu (whom I obviously did not like), with the whole younger sister, dark yume thing…
Otome on the other hand, you would consider the most mature, being older then both Yoshiyuki and Yume, the president of the student council ect. I would find the development of their relationship to be much more interesting considering that it’ll be a more mature relationship.
Also like you I tend to judge based on hair and find Otome’s hairstyle to be many times more superior than yume’s who just constantly reminds me of Nemu (yuck!)

A great point on the possible maturity of relationship btw Yoshiyuki and Otome.
I think we both enjoy mature interactions between lovers a lot more than just childish spates that plague a lot of the harem series. But from what I’ve read, Yume and Yoshiyuki’s love seems to cut deeper than Yoshi/Otome’s. Of course this is all 2nd hand info
Character art wise, at least for hairstyle, I actually prefer Otome over Yume’s. Those buns on Yume’s head look out of place. But seifuku wise, the middle school one (ie Yume’s) beats the high school’s (Otome’s) any time
October 11th, 2007 - 20:22
Really? You like Yume’s uniform better? I find the Student council president arm band thing very cool, maybe i’m turning into a machoist but i like girls with authority!
anyway I feel Otome’s uniform with that arm band looks so much better..
