Well, one thing has to be set straight--Kagamia and Konata were never meant to be a couple or were ever created for that purpose by Kagami Yoshimizu. He just thought they made a fun duo in the manga.

Kyoto Animation changed this.

At first, they thought they would follow the creator's timeline/plot/whatever you call it since it's a four panel, really. Anyhow, they became aware of the lucky star fans becoming riled up over Konata and Kagami(internet, forums, news, they all travel fast on the net), and decided they would kick it up a notch, give 'em what they want, and gain the profits in return. Kagami Yoshimizu never planned for this, and most of the yuri moments and yuri references made in the anime were never part of the manga. The two are just what sells. So, if they wanted to keep the show popular, they had to have some Konami spark in there somewhere, that's the only reason Kagami and Konata act that way towards each other. The manga only emphasizes close frienship, but the anime emphasizes something...else.

Now, don't get me wrong, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE KONAMI, I'm a hardcore fan. I love how Katrina Cyriac took notice of all those yuri hints because... well.. I thought I was the only Konami-obsessed retard that actually became excited over the bus scene(I noticed that even BEFORE reading this). So I'm glad there are people out there that are like me =D

There should be a second season for lucky star, most definitely. Be sure to buy the manga when it comes out ^^/

Whoa, I just re-watched episode three at the train scene. Um....were you right? Was she
...was she looking up her skirt too??
I also just realized that yes, Kagami does make those remarks at Konata, but when its just the two of them, Kagami seems much more laid back, as if she really IS hiding something, hehe.

You're right. And remember that scene when Kagami got that note from the crazy dude? Afterward she was very upset, and when she was overlooking that view, I think Konata knew she was really upset. That trip to the photo booth, which Kagami first called "embarassing", was Konata's idea, and deep down, she really was trying to make her friend feel better. I'm sure Kagami really appreciates Konata, very very much, and Konata cares for her. And she, at least as a friend, loves Kagami.
However, when Kagami commented "Last I checked you were a girl too", I think that was more superficial. That was just teasing, condescending. But throughout the series, you can tell that Kagami really does like Konata. Everytime they are in public with people, she's teasing her, but on the phone, everytime you see the two of them starting a conversation, Kagami is smiling. Even with the concert scene, though Konata acts as though she is emotially happy from just the concert, she didn't forget what Kagami did, because Konata is the type of person who LOOKS simple (or at least as how Kagami portrays her to everyone else), but is much smarter than people give her credit for, and I'm sure would love a relationship as well. Its just that Kagami has it bad for her. I mean REAL bad. If anything bad were to happen to Konata, Kagami would have her arm around her in less than a moment.
