Impulse buy – Sister Princess R3s

Sister Princess climbed onboard my to-watch anime list when Main Office threatened to revoke my siscon license upon discovering my inadequate credentials for said-fetish. Hence catching what many believed to be the definitive sister complex anime has become a longstanding goal of Hontouni Taihen desu though buying the DVDs was never part of the agenda. And having watched 2 eps, maybe I should have borrowed the fansubs before committing to the DVDs. XD
I was so sure the series would my cup of fetish. A bevy of kawaii imoutos ranging from the babelicious to the lolicious donning an assortment of well-designed outfits including my favourite sweet/goth loli fashion fawning over their onii-chan. Throw in 12 ways to address the onii-chan and I was dead certain we had a winner. That the series was produced by my favourite siscon/drama studio, Zexcs help add to that impression. Sadly, it may only have been 2 eps but a small voice in the remotest corner of my mind has been lamenting my failure to check out its online reviews before laying moolah for the DVDs. That said, the purchase was not expensive, S$100 for 9 DVDs. But it has been mentioned that even a cent for a bad series would still be a cent too much.
Sister Princess has 24 eps more to bolster the sisters' basis of attraction for their brother (pls Zexcs, don't cop-out with the lame "I've always wanted a loving brother all my childhood" ) since the current mindless fawning hurts the charms of some otherwise aesthetically very moelicious imoutos. I've also given up expecting gripping, taboo drama since the 'incestuous' facet of the siscon doesn't seem to be in-play.
I want to like and rave about you. So help me, Sister Princess.

Sister Princess is the one of the anime series that launched me into the world of anime, and the wonderful world of siscon. Although the overall story of the Sister Princess anime was weak, you’ll find that Sister Princess Repure is a much more enjoyable series.
And damn it, I still need to buy the R1 DVDs. I’ve already got he first two DVDs but then stopped buying.

Sister Princess introduced me to the magic of crazy Japanese text based video games that I never would have thought to pique my interest. Or maybe it’s just he nakkid girls (well… there are no nakkid girls in SP though).

Adun: It’s heartening to hear that Sispri played such an important role in your foray into the Great Art
Then it can’t be all too bad right? XD So far I’ve taken a mild interest in Sakuya, Karen and Aria. Still trying to remember the rest of them. Just. too. many!
Beowulf Lee: Jap text based games? Wow! I can imagine how good your Jap must be to play those games
SP’s good so far in that it doesn’t use fanservice to further the characters’ charms… not that there’s a lot so far XD

You may find this hard to believe, but I actually sat through this whole series hoping that he’d either a) pick someone in the end or b) They’d be his “adopted” sister or some sort of non-actual-related sister thing would occur.
Then I was like GA-N! when they turned out to all be his sisters, and he didn’t end up with Sakuya. (I can’t believe I remember her name.)
Needless to say, I didn’t make it past ep 1 of repure.

The Tanuki’s Siscon training is no complete. You may go down the mountain now.
Now for the Siscon series DC2 odds
1. Koko: 40% If this is to end at 12 episodes, her chance would have been 80%, but something tells me that at 12th or 13th episode, we will get ‘to be continued’ ending and a break for 6 month until 2nd season. If that is the case, Koko’s chance would have been 20%. If you are preparing for SAT II Math IIc subject test, calculate what I believe is probability of second season.
2. Yume: 30% She is the only human showing emotion to Yoshiyuki being with another female.
3. Otome: 20% Sakura tree is acting up and that means more screen time for Otome in the future.
4. The field: Minatsu just keeps on having too much screen time. New hair-do for Nanaka was very nice. Anzu still gets best punchlines. But most importantly, Koko is being set up too high for a fall. Either we get a harem ending(not likely), or we might see Koko taking a trip on a NICE BOAT.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up; this isn’t vintage ZEXCS. They are still in their primitive stages wouldn’t hit their stride until D.C. and Canvas 2 (and arguably has lost a step ever since).
Honestly, they should’ve just stuck with 2 sisters (Karen and Sakuya). The Onegai Twins dynamics would’ve worked a lot better than twelve girls fawning over their oni-chan.
Speaking of which, it’s also interesting to note that Karen is likely Wataru’s full sibling… while the other girls are probably adopted.

When I rented Sister Princess I was only able to get through six episodes before I completely lost interest. It must appeal to some people, but it didn’t appeal to me.
November 20th, 2007 - 21:46
Actually if you play the game for sister princess, near the end of every girl’s route, you’ll find that they are not blood related to you and in some cases the older ones actually marry Wataru.
November 21st, 2007 - 00:01
Hinano: It’d be a choice between Karen and Sakuya for me. Although Sakuya should have an edge since she’s voiced by Horie Yui XD Now that I now they are blood-related, the siscon feels a little diminished XD NBR siscon FTW!
maglor: Now that I’ve heard that ep 8 is another Minatsu ep, DCII has better not be 12/13 eps long only. We need our siscon catfights! XD
dsong: Sigh, I guess Zexcs only awakened with Da Capo XD I enjoyed their Kagihime too. The premise was laughable but the drama powerful. Yes siscon drama. I enjoy most of their Megadere those the series fizzled out near the end. I have high hopes for Rental Magica which is decent as of ep 7. Interesting that you mentioned Onegai twins since there’s a Karen there too, the classic imoutoesque Karen. Karen of Sky girls fits that mold too.
sixten: I wished I had rented the series before buying it XD
holyman282: Woah! Looks like the anime committed the heinous crime of deviating from the game. I demand my NBR siscon! XD

Funny enough, I actually rather enjoyed Sister Princest. Of course, this was back in my second awakening to anime where I was snatching up just about everything I could get to feed my addiction. I still loved the anime, but it was the individual personalities of each sister and the awesome character designs that made it worth watching. Back then I loved Chikage, Sakuya (Hocchan ftw!), and Aria the best. Then came RePure, where every episode made me throw up a bit in my mouth. That and it pounded into my head that Aria has got to have down syndrome. Clowns? Clowns being Niiya? WTF.
November 21st, 2007 - 02:38
LOL! You made me glad that I didn’t get Repure instead of SisPri. Looks like there’s hope for the series then. I just need to tweak my expectations to enjoy it. I love Aria’s design so far. Wished she was older so that she would be a formidable contender.
November 21st, 2007 - 10:01
Aria is old enough to be a fine contender, though I must say I find her personality a bit too… slow(?). (Hina’s superior)
December 1st, 2007 - 21:31
Well except for Chikage (and Sakuya) I think you won’t get anything as such. I never bought nor watched SisPri but I did for RePure and actually I would have easily thrown every single ep out of the window if it wasn’t for the almost decent Chikage ep as well as a few of the mini-eps used a endings which turned out to be quite good.
I read somewhere that RePure is closer to the original game but I have to admit the anime would have improved greatly if it had been made closer in spirit with RePure’s mini eps. I especially remember two of those were actually very very good.
December 2nd, 2007 - 07:10
I have stalled on my Sispri viewing. Much as I love Sispri character designs, I’m probably not ready to embark on Repure given the huge polarity of views on it
Still you have piqued my interest in the Chikage ep for Repure. Some day… some day XD

There is a deeper reason for my hatred of Princest. If it wasn’t for it, maybe I’d still be a ravishing lolicon otaku that would be on an Interpol list.
Retrospectively looking back, I’m glad sense was knocked into me.
September 14th, 2011 - 00:07
Ah good for you! Do let me know if you ever want to own a copy of the DVDs (maybe to commemorate your not getting on the interpol list?
). After 4 yrs of trying to sell the DVDs, I’m convince there’d only be takers if I paid them instead XD
September 14th, 2011 - 03:21
Correct: You’d have to pay me to buy them.
