Shugo Chara – Bishoujo rankings
First, a big thank you to Impz for his incessant chants about Amu that lead me to discover THE mahou shoujo anime of 2007 - Shugo Chara. Man, the last time I felt all gooey-sweet inside had to be Cardcaptor Sakura. And like CCS, I'm utterly enamoured with the bishoujos of the series and not ashamed though they may only be 11. After all, they behave a great deal more sensibly than many grown-ups. Anyhow, here's in ascending order of chara love.
Hatoba Yuki - Probably a one off chara but her demure personality with that hairclip means tanuki haarto-getto! Maybe it helped that she reminded me of Siesta (Zero no Tsukaima). (Okay, the truth is I needed her to make 5.)
Yuiki Yaya - Shocking upset! The imoutoesque chara of the show not on top 3 in the tanuki's bishoujo rankings! And that attests to the power of the 3 top on this list. Beside the characteristic short twin-tails, I love her Nemu-ish ribbons and Singaporean appetite.
Hinamori Amu - Pink haired and tsundere, she makes an endearing lead with plenty of room for character development. Only thing is she gotta stop blushing at every cute guy she bumps into. Ranking set to raise after Amulet Clover transformation.
Fujisaki Nadeshiko - And how can she not be in top 2 after ep 9?! A TRUE yamato nadeshiko, Nadeshiko is the ojousama of ladies. Kind, immensely understanding and exceedingly beautiful, only she is worthy of the Queen's chair. I have no doubt Tadase is in love with her. Which ironically makes it cruel for Nadeshiko to be egging Amu's love for him.
Hoshina Utau - How can someone who briefly appeared twice in all of nine eps top the list? 4 reasons. Blond, twin-tailed, goth outfit and Nana Mizuki! Plus I bet she's the designated loser in love! Add another 5000 moe points! XD
Sigh, it's been a while since I enjoyed a good mahou shoujo. After all, my recent sampling of StrikerS and Nanatsuiro Drops both miscarriaged. Shugo Chara has the whiff of CCS. Let's see how far they can carry this greatness.

I can’t believe that just because Utau is the designated loser that she gets top spot, I’d understand if Utau were remotely worthy, but such is not the case. Feldwebel Amu will prevail over the likes of Utau for the heart of Ikuto, as far as Tadase is concerned let him stew. Amu x Ikuto 4TW!
Feldwebel Amu will lead her squad with her characteristic cool and spicy demeanor. She will prove her superiority over Utau and make mockery of this so called ranking. Amulet Spade will crush all those foolish enough to challenge her and use permanent ink to record your insolence at making her third. Once she masters her Amulet Clover aspect her squad will be upgraded to status of Heavy Panzer Abteilung.
Seriously Amu-chan has three war aspects and is a formidable otome that is responsible and has saved her fellows on numerous occasions. Amu-chan also sports a more dynaic wardrobe than that loathsome Utau. The Bearer of the Lock and the Holder of the Key shall meet. Tears of lament shall Utau weep. So it is written, so shall it be!

Cool and Spicy!
I started watching this a few weeks ago after a friend’s recommendation, definitely one of the best mahou shoujo shows I’ve seen this year. Though for me, No.1 would have to be Amu since she has that whole punk/goth style which I tend to like more than the elegance and beauty that is Nadeshiko.

well before i read that post i did read somewhere that there was a trap and my suspicion on who it is was right…
i just finished marathoning my backlogged eps…
and though most of the eps so far were fillers…
they were ok imo…
i hope they back on track with the manga soon…
but seeing as this is probably gonna be a 4 cour series i guess we’re gonna get more fillers…
but still i just hope they animate those juicy spoilers that you just read…
but seeing as they even have boy’s love in CCS my hopes that they won’t cut those out are raised…

kaz3phyrous: Heh, actually I don’t think the eps are fillerish at all unless we count the card-capturing in CCS as fillerish too.
The series reminds me so much of CCS because there is so much character charm and as long as a little of any character is revealed in any ep, it’s an enjoyable one for me

Stripey, there is siscon later. Technically brocon, but I guess you’re not worried about such details… also, LOL @ your reaction to Nadeshiko. I thought she was one of the top-tier bishoujos, too, till the revelation. Can’t wait to see Amu’s reaction when she finds out.

I’ve learnt to deny traps in anime. XD After the initial, a quick test reveals that my love for Nadeshiko remains true. She’ll always be No. 2.. after siscon Utau… Ahh, I can’t wait for the sweet scent of taboo love to waft from Shugo Chara. Give me ep 10 already! XD

though i think that will still be a long time from now…
since they haven’t even covered half of volume 2…
though since they are shuffling chapters there’s a chance that the revelations will show up faster…

Lol i have major spoilers i want to type down, but i might get yelled at for ruining everything. And yeh i’m all for amuto, tadase is too girly and goody-two-shoes. In alot of animes, like fruits basket, the main girl always ends up with the unexpected hot bad boy. And Yes, Utau does undergo a goodness makeover, kinda..she’s still cold towards amu and still having a neko onii-tan complex. Yes ikuto is actually her brother o.o shocker…? T.T i was kinda suprised that the most lady like girl is a crossdresser. One of the great things that makes shugo chara so hard to put off.
