Hair-em archetypes for tanukis

Imagine this. Stripey has just won a million (amazon) dollars through Sea Slugs! 40th year giveaway contest. He readily tasks you to realise his dream - to make an eroge that would shame even the fabulous Yoakena franchise. Where would you start? Why of course, we begin with bishoujo designs that would his pure tanuki haarto getto. And so here's 6 haremette archetypes in anime that would have the tanuki's stripes go psychedelic.

In ascending order of preference (with some examples of said archetypes).

Short blue haired 'tomboy' (Aoi ~ToHeart, Subaru ~Nanoha StrikerS, Sherrice ~ SCRYED)

Spunky, energetic... erm maybe too genki sometimes

Long black haired yamato nadeshiko (Rinzu ~ Raimuiro Senkitan, Makoto ~ Love Hina)

Elegant and often found in Japanese traditional outfits like the miko uniform

Twin-tailed blonde tsundere (Eri ~ School Rumble, Ayu ~Kiminozo)

Best employed with ojousama types

Short twin-tailed imouto (Mai ~Yoakena, Konomi ~ ToHeart)

Moe overload!

Long pink haired idol (Kotori ~ Da Capo, Lacus ~Gundam SEED, Hinagiku ~HnG)

Concentrated babeliciousness. Careful, they read minds

Light haired loli (Primula ~ SHUFFLE!, Hinako ~ Myself, yourself, Emelenzia ~ Megadere)

Loliciousness personified. Add the 'imouto' booster pack for a deathblow

Green haired trap (Impz)

I jest. Scratch this one XD

    they should be given more fighting chance in harems…
    as well as the green-haired traps… XD
    this is not one per hair color right?
    would have wanted to see the silent blue-haired genius archetype who likes reading books in there though… (e.g. nodoka of negima and kotomi of clannad)

    Kresnik: Ponytails seem to be more common for onee-sama types in anime though both Haruhi/Mikuru look really hot in PTs. What are two-side ups? :P

    Kabitzin: LOL! Since demand drives supply, I could start spamming amazon with requests for above-mentioned imouto. :) After a couple of million requests, I’d think they’d see the business potential. Else, there’s always ebay XD

    moyism: Ahem, right here at hontouni taihen desu! :) We accept cash, cheques, paypal and PVC figures. In fact, invest now and get a scantily clad tanuki wearing nothing but stripes! Only for +18 investors and for a limited time only! XD

    Pfft, Kabitzin’s is weak. I’d prefer a Long, black haired with light pink streaks twin-tailed tsundere idol tomboy loli, hold the imouto. All the convenience of a harem in one girl!

    Hmmmm, I would not have classed “MOTOKO” (Makoto?) of Love Hina as a “yamato nadeshiko”….. more like a variant of tsundere.

    Yeah, agree there’s a trend of hairstyle/color to archetype but I think there’s enough slopover to make the connection a bit tenuous.

    There’s been an influx of purple-haired, yellow-eyes characters recently, or so it feels. Amu from Shugo Chara, ef’s Chihiro (and Kei? I forget.), Aoi from M;Y…I only say this of course because I’m a rabid Nagato fanboy.

    Might as well merge this with a late comment on the ’2007 in review’ and I’ll wish you another happy year of blogging all the same. Looking forward to more fun lists like this, from a fellow harem fanatic.

    Make sure to yandere-proof your harem first. ;)

    Long black haired yamato nadeshiko surprisingly are my favourites followed by the pink haired idol!

    My preference for the Long black haired is surprisingly overpowering. Even to the point of dare i say it overcome my preference for the idolicious Kotori (in the pink long hair category)

    Kresnik: Ah, that. Yes, love that hairstyle too. :)

    vexx: gah! My bad… it’s Motoko. She’s not really a yamoto nadeshiko since she behaves more girlishly than womanly. It’s just her outward character design that fits the mold. :)

    Orion: Heh, I only know Tsuruya for this archetype. :) Green haired appears to be a wild card. I don’t seem to be able to pin an archetype on it just yet.

    CCY: Purple hair bishoujos are coming up strongly in my harem intake indeed :) Nadeshiko (Shugo Chara) is my current favourite purple haired bishoujo. Happy new year to you too! Am looking forward to another year of harem-filled fun with everyone :)
