Hayate no Gotoku 50

Nagi and Nishizawa join forces in a quiz battle; former wants to win the Hayate-shaped trophy, latter wants to share the prize ticket of all you can eat shabu shabu with Hayate. But standing in their way are Miki and Hinagiku (who only appear after the eye catch though).

Maria did suggest that Hayate could team up with Nagi after disguising himself as a high school girl. LOL, that's probably the only really big minus for Hayate when considering a Hayate x Maria pairing. LOL

And the return of Yuuko Gotoh as Demon Queen co-host tima~!

Apparently Miki has tricked Hina into helping her.

*Joins in waving a Hinagiku flag*

Miki thought it was going to be a cakewalk with the Invincible and hyper-competitive Student Council President on her team but the contestants are positioned on top of a really tall slide which increases its incline every time an opposing team gets a correct answer and Hina's only weakness is her fear of heights.

But she needn't have worried since Hina hates to lose anyway and the sliding scale gives her an incentive to trample on the opposition. Miki doesn't have to do anything as usual.

But Team Nagi-Nishizawa manage to come back from behind after the Hamster's spectacular save of her rival. Given that Nagi *is* the main heroine, they manage to turn the tables on Hinagiku even though Hina is obviously a superior character.

Splash down. Hinagiku and Miki don't even get an aftermath scene. Feh. But I'm happy that at least our pinkhaired goddess had a good amount of screentime in this episode. Behold the power of low expectations!

  1. this episode made me rage a bit, because as you mentioned, Hina was the superior character, but in this episode, she has to give way in order to put over Nishizawa and Nagi. Hina should not lose that easy but… >.<

Hopefully, the next season will be more Hina-centric.

  2. I still have this slight stupid hope in the back of my head that they’ve been filetting out the whole Hina path in order to make a movie out of it, or OVAs (Kenjiro Hata had nebulously announced that the show would go “new ways”). And since this is more or less the only continuous storyline in the entire show…

Ah, one can ^H^H^H^H^Hdelud… er… hope, right?

  3. Where did you get the ep? I can’t seem to find it anywhere. : (

  4. sentinal: the raws are all over the place. English subs… not yet.

Mentar: S2 is showing up, which I -hope- means more Hinagiku… but if Synergy’s getting it, we’ll probably have more butler battles, fillers, and some random Hayate-in-drag episodes which weren’t in the manga instead.

I really do hope they animate the festival stories, as well as that one chapter in Vol 10… but we’ll probably not see it.

  5. anon-kun, I’ll just put down the loss to the height factor. Don’t think that this is a story based on the manga though so it does seem that bit thinnner.

Mentar, hope springs eternal! Until the anime studio decides to crush it yet again! orz

sentinal, Ep 50′s not been subbed yet. Raws are available at all the usual places (which we, like in Fight Club, do not talk about :P ).

  6. anon: I think the problem is that Nagi’s the type who would nuke a building using the GENESIS cannon if she thought she’d lose face, or Hayate, out of impulsive rage. She… let’s just say in the manga, she almost does this to someone.

Zyl: I’ll bet you that Hina’s path is left untouched, in favor of more Nekomimi Hayate…
