Pay Any Price, Bear Any Burden

I'm largely in agreement with double on controlling impulse buying, if only because it is important that we have cognitive models that give us the comforting illusion we can really? really! control our spending.
But part of good planning is also the need for a Plan B when our intricately formulated Plan A does not survive first contact with the merchandise. All hail Moyism!
This is where the idea of Limiters from Nanoha StrikerS seems appropriate here. Wallet power may range from the single lower ranges of C to A, then from A to AAA and then $ to double $. The Time Space Administration Bureau prevents the use of maximum power most of the time.
But there are always exceptions when Limiter Release needs to be authorized, like when something comes up that is (1) rare (very low supply) and (2) a must have (RAWR RAWR REI RABU).
As any good standup economist will tell us, costing needs to take into account the opportunity cost. In the case of failing to GETTO the goods, the avoidance of the tinge of regret, the dull throbbing of heartache, the burning of unfulfilled lust.
When Stripey missed the boat on Twinkle Illustration's Midnight Tea Party on Amazon.co.jp MarketPlace [prices have now drilled through the heavens at an astronomical JPY 24,800 for a second hand copy =_=], you should have heard the torrent of tanuki wailing and bawling. Likewise, an oppressive aura of pure malice would descend whenever I looked at the empty space on my shelf for the first MegaHouse Lunamaria figure that I had missed out the first time round due to sheer carelessness. Happily we have both resolved those specfic wants and it's definitely not 'Buy first, regret later' but 'Buy first, Ahaha~ 4EVAR'.
In these cases, damn the prices, full speed ahead!

The opportunity cost compells you huh.

Well, this post makes me a little less uncomfortable with the fact that I pre-ordered two Konata Haruhi Cosplay figma figures through a proxy service.
Just a little.

The Sojourner, I blame the indoctrination of high school economics class!
Nemo_N, two? One to keep in the box as a backup against breakage? I think that’s a big reason why I haven’t got on board with Figma even though their Yuki was tempting…

I buy, therefore I am eternally broke. I am eternally broke, therefore I must buy? *shrugs*
Random costs do come up, you just gotta be smart enough to have buffer money in case it happens (which in my case, is a lot)
BTW, buy Figma’s Yuki… tis awesome! I have mine doing Kamina’s/Simon’s pointing-towards-the-heavens pose standing on my PS3.
