The olfactory sense just isn't a very important "communications channel" in our makeup, when you get down to it. (I'm slightly curious as to what amounted to "reaction" and "stronger" in the study...) There is, also, apparently <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_sexual_attraction" rel="nofollow">this</a> weird little phenomenom. Morale of the story being, I'm guessing there's a pretty good reason the socially associative psychological rejection effect and the sociocultural taboos derived from it.
