The whole Ritsu x Mio doramaz seems to be KyoAni original material; I didn't see anything about this up to Chapter 25 of the source material which Gordonator confirms. I thought that part was rather non-4komaish but Mikotoism 'could even feel the 4komaness of this episode.' Actually there were substantial changes from the 4koma. Yui did not offer Mio unto the Sawa-chan God of Maintenance. And Mugi did not use of awesome Korruption Kollusion Nepotism powers to get Yui free maintenance for Gitah.

But it's ok. I liked it anyway. Especially the bedroom scene. Where deep yuri love heals. Suzumiya Yuki has already explicated on this in his very appropriately named blog, Yuri Goggles @ > 9000x - check it out, give a warm welcome to another member of the Yuri Delusion Alliance and leave lots of comments (now that I have popped the blog's comment cherry mwahaha)!

Of course I completely support the spread of Dr Tsumugi Kotobuki's MugiVision virus. Where do I sign up to be her lab Igor or nameless henchman, Ascaloth?

Metanorn notes how Azusa's innocence has been taken away by Sawa-chan-sensei's DVD. But the nosebleed was taken away. An affront indeed to the cause of justice and yuri delusion!!

Oh another change from the 4koma was how Sawa-chan-sensei did the Decider thing WRT the band's name (so appropriate) first time round rather than have the delay. Well, the delay (due to Ritsu's sickness) didn't take place in the 4koma. The Four Girls in Unison mode in the anime (above screencap) was a great gag though. This change in the sequence also melded into the change of reason why Yui caught a cold. In the 4koma, it was something to do with Sawa-chan-sensei cosplay again but the anime reason (catching it from Ritsu) has a pretty good feel to its flow too. Either way it still sets up one of the same great gag of Ch 25.

The big question for Ep 12 now, as posed by RP and Hanners, is: Will we get a finale like God Knows?

    i actually prefer the 4-koma manga. it has better comical effect. yui is more likable in the manga, yes she is dojikko but not as dojikko as in the anime which is rather annoying.

    btw, azusa needs a cuter voice.

    I’m not sure if the finale is going to be Awesome Epic and all that. In the manga, due to Yui’s sickness and extended absence, the festival performance sucked.

    They could animate it true to the manga canon and make a horrible performance, which would feel like a(nother) troll after all that buildup. They could make the band unexpectedly good, which would raise howls of objection about KyoAni changing the canon. They could just fade out as the curtain rises, which would cause people to complain that they never show a full concert.

    KyoAni can’t win.

    Hmm… After the opening, there was that brief shot of a tissue box with a crumpled tissue at its side, and that tissue has a bit of a dark stain on it. Realistically drying/dried blood? Could be just dirt, but my delusion tells me Azusa did have a nosebleed but KyoAni was too shy to show it. :D

    Thank you for the intro Zyl and my goodness! You just made me feel like a virgin again, only to de-virginize(?!) me all over again with that comment of yours and cherries. Damn cherries…

    Also, this Yui > Ritsu, Ritsu > Yui and vice verser is making me confused! I have never shipped more than one pairing with a fav’d character (In this case Ritsu). I feel like I am cheating on her or something – but K-ON! is making me love Yui/Ritsu now as well.

    I find Yui catching the cold from Ritsu quite…interesting, yes, interesting but I am more broken than this…I want Ui/Yui damn it! <- Hopefully next ep.

    LOL, that looks almost like a scientific article :P

    I didn’t know the whole drama thing was KyoAni original… Well, at least we got some yuri :P

    As for the finale, only thing I fear is that they’re taking the emo bus again… At least I hope they have yuri to go with it. All K-ON emo drama has some yuri wrap, so I hope they keep it like that, makes it easier to swallow. Then again, I’d rather NOT have K-ON drama in the first place.

    I hope the performance is bad really. I don’t want to see another way of overblown craze like what happened with Haruhi. Yes, overhype makes my skin crawl.

    I felt anime Yui was just fine but she was probably only at her best in the latter half of Ep 1 where she showed the most heart.

    Who would you wish for to voice Azusa instead?

    The tissue was screencapped quite a bit. Maybe it’s a broadcasting station restriction? Just recalls black blood a la School Days lol
