Nodame Cantabile Paris 05

Summary:
Shinichi remembers his father not coming home for Christmas. Kuroki arrives in Paris from Germany and soon stumbles onto Nodame. They return to the apartment just in time to catch Shinichi leaving for his next assignment in the Netherlands. But he returns on Christmas eve to find Nodame missing; she's busy being an arse (with Kuroki) at Luc's grandfather's church's Nativity play. Meanwhile Shinichi shares wine and cheese with a painter who knew him and his father well. When they meet at last, Shinichi wants to call off their relationship but Nodame's jumping spin kick and death choke soon get him to change his mind. As onlookers applaud, Shinichi wonders why he is changing himself for Nodame.
Reaction:
Even though I am not at all hot about how Shinichi's father is really Ikari Gendou, there were lots of great moments in this episode. Like how Kuroki's fantasy image of Nodame withered after seeing the mess that is her room and her private Chiaki-senpai sexy photo collection. Or the literal translation of Kuroki's first meeting with Tanya - pity we don't get any bluish green verses as in the manga; the whole Counterpoint thing got cut too but it's ok as I didn't really understand it in the manga (except for the punchline about Shinichi having the Japanese language edition all along). A nice touch in the anime adaption is the level up of Nodame's martial arts prowess as she took down Shinichi. But I also liked it because of how, despite her adoration of him, she's not going to take any of his BS.
