One new piece of figure care advice I received with the purchase of GSC Saber Lily was to gently brush her down with a clean water colour paintbrush. Which is not just great for removing dust and other particles that could have settled on her in the course of her manufacturing and packing but also oily residues that can cause problems later.

The figure herself was just a hundred kinds of awesome and I was using a pretty nice camera so the main issue was not to screw up too much while shooting. I actually took over a hundred photos and just picked those that don't have obvious glaring errors (mainly blurry or grainy). Easily my best buy of the year so far. Your friend's description of gorgeous is absolutely spot-on. Thanks, Naz.
