Hinagiku tribute – Top 10 Pink hair Princesses

Marathoning Hayate no Gotoku!!, my flame for Hinagiku was rekindled and eventually evolved into an inferno. I don't remember such overpowering Hina-charm in season 1 and was utterly blown away by the torrential onslaught of her loveliness. They say love is an action word so I made a list of worthy pink hair bishoujos for Hina chan to rule over as the ULTIMATE pink haired goddess.

10. Lotti (Pandora Hearts)

Note that I'm not weak to every yandere bishoujo. But Lotti's deredere side for Glen somehow magnifies that yandere charm. Pink hair definitely helped.

09. Edomae Luna (Seto no Hanayome)

I'm not sure which I love more - her 2-faced idol act or the oujo-tsundereness. Probably the explosive combination of both.

08. Darry (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann)

I too was derailed by Darry. 5 thumbs up for Gainax's penchant for hot 14 yr olds

07. Lacus Clyne (Gundam SEED)

Battle-kimono outfit FTW!! To be honest Lacus can be a little scary at times. An overachieving wife can take a little getting used to, even if you are omni-Kira.

06. Anya Alstreim (Code Geass R2)

The CG Heroines Tribute attests to Anya's popularity; outstripping even the very lolicious Kaguya (who is also luuurrve). The 2D realm needs more lolicious pink haired bishoujos.

05. Mizunashi Akari (Aria the animation)

The very soul of Aria, beating even green-haired lolicious Alice. Akari's deep appreciation of life is what sets Aria apart from other slice-of-life(s).

04. Shirawaka Nanaka (Da Capo II)

There was only one episode worth watching in DCSS (Season 1) - The Nanaka Episode Just as I would have jumped Akane, there would have been no doubt what was to transpire after if Nanaka 'attacked' this tanuki from behind. Yes, one of the few 2D bishoujos who could actually force a tanuki to forsake his honour.

03. Hinamori Amu (Shugo Chara)

To be able to rival the 14 yr old, tsundere, bro-loving, blonde twin tailed Utau says A LOT about Amu's pink haired charm. Boy, do I miss those transformations scenes. XD

02. Louise (Zero no Tsukaima)

The Zero no Tsukaima franchise DESERVES a remake. Louise's lolicious-tsundere charms DEMANDS it. I propose putting the JCStaff teams who gave us Toradora and Hayate no Gotoku!! @ the helm for a ZnT season 2 and 3 remake.

01. Katsura Hinagiku (Hayate no Gotoku!!)

Ahh, the very pink haired goddess who inspired this post. I thought long and hard to how best to describe such divine beauty with finite earthly words and gave up. Her loveliness can possibly be conveyed through this confession - She came to close to replacing Shirakawa Kotori as the patron goddess of the tanuki.

Nuff said.

    I think Hinagiku is my favorite pink-haired character too. I would have Washu (from Tenchi Muyo!) on my list as well, though.

    A pink haired princess list without Takara Miyuki? Now that’s a darn shame.

    And ugh… you mentioned the keyword… now I have to watch Pandora Hearts to see this lovely little yandere in action :3

    I wouldn’t even say that Hina’s beauty is her selling point, but rather her personality, which is very multifaceted and incredibly appealing to me. Her fierce proud competitiveness, and yet she isn’t stuck up or arrogant at all. Her flaring temper, while she’s also sensitive and kind in nature. Smart and levelheaded, but also playful and teasing. The fact that she’s essentially universally liked and admired, while at the same time she feels terribly inferior due to her lack of “girliness”. And particularly, her caring heart. In several aspects, she’s helpful to the degree of altruistic even against her own interests (e.g. pushing Hayate towards Ayumu and later Athena), and whenever Hina gets involved in Hayate’s matters, she’s always making things better for him.

    Hina is the anime character I feel the greatest empathy for. I want her to be rewarded for her deeds.

    I’m not the only one, by the way. Hina just won the International Saimoe League tournament 2009.

      Thanks for putting in words what I could not describe :) Just to add that I found her incredibly authentic for an anime character whose tsundere tendencies could have easily made her one-dimensional or simply degenerate into otaku pandering antics.

      Actually I feel a great deal of sympathy for Nagi myself. As least Hina’s in the race given that Hayate DOES think of her as a girl at least. Nagi’s just a kid to Hayate. Not sure how the mangaka is going to resolve this now that practically ALL of HnG fandom is rooting for Hinagiku :P

    I dunno I would have placed battle-kimono Lacus a bit higher.. but then again I don’t think I’ve seen any of the anime from the characters you listed above her hahaha!

      Err by above I assume higher in ranking? :) In that case, you’re missing out quite a bit if you haven’t met Pink haired princesses #1-6. I recommend Louise (Zero no Tsukaima) for some short/sweet romance. Stay off the subsequent seasons though. XD
