Sora no woto 3

No natto?
In the mood for food. Not exactly after school tea time but still a pretty impressive spread, considering that one of the themes brought out in this episode was how under-supplied 1121 is.

Comforts of home, at Kanata's new home away, far far away from home. Also one of the ways to ameliorate the paucity of central supply replenishment.

But some unhappy thoughts too. And I thought it was because the precious miso was not completely finished.

For Felicia x Rio, I recommend spooning
Rio's rough and ready table manners (or lack thereof) is almost certainly an elaborate and extended act of rebellion against her father who is probably religious and likes her to be conventionally feminine. Which I would not be surprised at all if she was.
But the real highlight, of course, was the Felicia x Rio interaction. There's something vaguely erotic about the above screencap that I mentally tagged the one of their aftermeal espresso drink as "aftersex".

Unfortune cookie
And Felicia's evil teasing of Rio as she nimbled on the fortune cookies was just sooo couplely. Even the Slayers reference.

Her panic over Kanata's fever, fuelled by memories of her mother's possibly eventually fatal sickness, was its funniest at the point of its complete abatement. I suppose she didn't know that Kanata is the main chara and can't possibly die in the second episode. Or maybe she watched too much Ga Rei Zero.
It was a tad contrived overall but it was still see how Necessity is the Mother of Reconciliation (whereas the real mother of Invention is Laziness).

Rio's Senpai charm was at its peak when she told Kanata to loosen up and not be afraid to fail or show weakness. I wonder if she triggered Kureha's flag with a similar speech? It was also LOL how she used the Takemikazuchi as an Amazing Grace jukebox though I was half disappointed that GUNDAM did not appear on the bootup screen.

A delivery of Shirai Kuroko Computer Parts?
MOAR Felicia teasing Rio is always good. Though also good that Rio manages to get one back too.

I got the impression the fortress garrison just buys most of its consumables from the town across the bridge… makes more logistical sense than shipping such comparatively high-bulk and perishable supplies from central stores too, doubly so as the place’s pretty much in the ass-end of nowhere.
Also, by way of minor spoiler, soldiers have ever been only too ready and willing to solve such adminstrative neglect by creative arrangements with the locals off the books and the 1121st is no exception; that comes up in an episode or two.

But only if you have the funds to do a LP…

Oh they do have other ways of getting supplies, just because they are at the bottom of the totem pole for the supply chain doesn’t mean they have to go about ragged and hungry. Just sit back make your guesses and the answers will come it due course.
Glad to see that you are enjoying this, it reminds me a lot of my career here and there. Not sure if some of the occurrences will strike a chord with your own conscript days. Rio is great for a number of reasons one of them is being that she is a better Senior NCO than some I have encountered. She lives up to an ideal that doesn’t always happen.

The oddball mashup x useless unit thing certainly does strike a chord with my conscript days. Actually the guys in my unit (including me) were more like circus freakshow LOL

Stay long enough and then you begin to realize how few “normal” people there are. Hell I met a E-7 who collected Nike shoes and waited overnight at stores to get some rare ones. I knew a E-8 who loves robotech and thinks it is “good.”
Hope you catch up soon so that we don’t have to hold back so we don’t spoil things for you. Part of the fun is putting together the pieces. It’s a show that does reward meticulous viewing since hints are littered about here and there that won’t be revealed until the second ep in sequence.

Had quite a few “characters” in my active unit back in the day too, some I could have a decent conversation with, but would not count on if we had to go out into the field…
Nice to know that you’re following this show too btw… Besides the commentary Crusader and Animewriter provides, it’s nice to know that someone else who has done the 2.5 years (+10 more) is following this…
Btw, I claim Kanata and Noel as mai imoutos!!!

Thanks, Crusader, for the encouragement and holding back on the spoilers. Yes, definitely the attention to detail and their use as precursors for plot points has definitely been a big plus point in my enjoyment of this series.
Also thanks to Kherubim for the encouragement. Man, guys can talk endlessly about the ole NSF/NS days lol
Oh you can have Moel as your imouto – I would prefer her as my waifu LOL
