It's generally more fun to speculate about a series with a mystery or two when there isn't any manga or light novel material to spoil things:

• Trainwreck also causes Raph and FlareKnight to doubt the theory that the characters have arrived to this world via attempted suicide; I didn't buy the suicide theory mostly because the really terrible stuff happened to them when they were much younger and they seem to have died as things were just starting to get better thus being unfulfilled and disappearing when they accept their lives.
• certainly I agree with Raph's reading that KEY tries to get viewers to become emotionally invested in the characters and that Angel Beats! breaks new ground wrt how it also tries to do this for male characters too. I would add that, crucially, the comedy and visual pyrotechnics also offer a way out for those of us who DO NOT WANT to make the aforementioned investment.
• Hanner is conflicted about how the cliche puts him off but still works. Conversely the lack of former might be a good way to reel in (pun intended) new fans who had avoided KEY anime due to lack of fighting and explosions.
• Wrt Who/What Is Red-Eyed Tenshi, currently I'm going Divine's note of the speculation that it's a split of Kanade due to the use of Harmonics gone awry. Thus I don't agree at all with Aroduc that this is a ploy by Yuri for attention because she's not really as Haruhi as she looks - for a start, she has a lot more self-awareness and she has her first priorities right and dead centre - which is still to understand the base and superstructure of this world and how to gain control/power in it.
• komidol points out the important detail of Shiina's cut skirt which I, now having seen it, also like. Very much. The Karmaburn category for this would, of course, be CHECK.
• Kurogane's caption for the Just how big is it? screencap is classic Kuro.
• The really important question, of course, is whether Ranade also likes mapo tofu.
