[Stripey] Angel Beats! tribute – Top 10+1 light-haired lolis

Light haired loli Tachibana Kanade

Much like the BakeMono inspired favourite romance tribute, I just had to bust out a light haired loli (LHL) list for our newest LHL bishoujo - Tachibana Kanade. Though she didn't topple the reigning LHL, her amazing blitzkrieg to top 3 is testimony to her charm.

Just to clarify certain terms before moving onto the list.

A) Light-haired - Used very liberally in this list. It ranges from light blue to white to grey.

B) Lolis -Include the lolicious even though they might be 5000 years old.

And here's my Angel Beats! tribute - A light-haired loli ranking with the fabulous Tachibana Kanade -

10) Hinoto (X TV)

Tanukis have a weakness for tragic lolis and even more when she's light-haired.

09) Gretel (Black Lagoon 2nd barrage)

08) Mochida Hinako (Myself, Yourself)

A lesser tanuki would have looked.... XD

07) Kirihara Kiraha (Kagihime Monogatari)

It could be the siscon, the imoutolicious charm or the light hair. Probably all of them.

06) Zefiris (Scrapped Princess)

Missed Zefy out in my last list... Never. Again.

05) Kazahana Mashiro (Mai HiME)

I must STRESS again.. Mashiro, tragic loli, from MAI HIME anime... not wannabe from the OTOME manga. XD

04) Primula (SHUFFLE!)

Step aside Kaede and Asa, Primula will ultimately triumph with her ageless body...

03) Tachibana Kanade (Angel Beats!)

The awesome LHL who inspired this post.

02) Emelenzia Beatrix Rudiger (Megadere)

Megadere was worth it because of E-chan...

01) Felli Loss (Chrome Shelled Regios)

You will ALWAYS be Stripey's Numba 1 LHL *face-rubs*

Special mentions to the following LHLs who almost made the list -

Echo (Pandora Hearts)

Byakki / Shiro (Wagaya oinari sama)

Of course I'm expecting Sora (Yosuga no Sora) to climb rapidly the charts come October. Not forgetting Togi Shiro who will be making an appearance in the Fortune Arterial anime this October too. Note that FA will be animated by ZEXCS/FEEL and it is surely no coincidence that the number 1 and 2 of this list comes from ZEXCS shows. I look forward to adding Shiro chan to this list.

Edit - 31 August 2010 : I CANNOT believe I forgot one of the most memorable LHLs in animedom - Nia Teppelin. So I'm going to cheat and insert her to her rightful spot on the chart..

03a) Nia Teppelin (Gurren Lagann)

Sharing the spot with Kanade, Nia is one of the 3 reasons why TTGL is a great show. 1st being Yoko, 3rd being Darry.. I mean Simon XD

        see that is why you need to watch more pre2k anime. so many of the archtypes that came of age in the 2k got started in the 94 to 99 era. By not watching nadesico you are missing one of the early pioneers of the “silent, mysterious, Light hair, Loli” archtype, with Rei being the first.

        Wait, I just realised you were talking about Ayanami Rei? :P Woah… I love Rei but I just find it hard to classify her under loli despite her age since she feels all woman to me. XD

        In fact, every time Wife-chan catches me drooling over Rei/Asuka on my Eva 2.22 blu ray, I’d try to act nonchalant and say,” Can you believe they’re 14?!?”. XD

    I’m not really a big fan of Kanade. She wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t rank her very highly. Something about her voice just made her seem really dead (no pun intended) and dull. I know a lot of people like that, and usually I do too, but there was just no charm in her voice. Nakahara Mai demonstrated the proper way to deliver that deadpan act with Felli.

    And actually, now that I’ve gone and looked, I’m not sure I can even find 10 light-haired lolis that I really enjoyed. My top 5 would look something like this:

    5. Momono Shiori (11eyes)
    Terrible show, but Shiori made it fun to watch by being an awesome light-haired loli magician.

    4. Echo (Pandora Hearts)
    Hirohashi Ryou playing a deadpan light-haired loli? Sign me up~

    3. Yin (Darker Than Black)
    The reason I decided to check out DTB was because of Yin. It’s a shame they screwed up S2 by barely showing any of her.

    2. Illyasviel von Einzbern (Fate/stay night)
    Mischievous light-haired loli with a taste for destruction makes Ilya one of my all time favorites, even in less specific categories.

    1. Felli Loss (Chrome Shelled Regios)
    Shin kicks for all~ They’re really just love taps :D

    As much as it’d be sad to bump Felli down to #2, I’d be more than willing to let Sora take that #1 spot from her :3

      Heh, Kanade is the self-sacrificing loli archetype that tanuki-kind absolutely worships. It helps she has the “lovably stupid” gene too. :)

      And it’s great to see another Felli fan. :) Sora would have to be BEYOND awesome to topple Felli for me.. but I look forward to that too. XD

        GXP is part of the OAV storyline not Universe. If you have watch the oav at least watch the first 13ep of the oav first.

        Hmm checked out the OPs on youtube and confirmed that I’ve only seen bits of Tenchi Universe. The OVA looks a tad dated :P and the female leads in GXP seems to be 2 onee-san types? Would I risk the stake if fellow tanuki caught me watching GXP? XD

      Oh Remilia as in Touhou? Ooooh I love her chara designs.. but I’d need another list for game LHLs :) There’re quite a few worthy ones, enough for a separate list. :)

    Yeah Felli is #1 here. Sora rates quite high as well (having played the first Yosuga game), but doesn’t take first!
