Fate/Stay Night 17

Saber's cute schoolgirl embarrassment and Sakura in Boxcutter mode were the highlights of this episode for me. But overall, somehow, the series just isn't grabbing me, am currently still onboard just to see it through to the end but I'm not actively unhappy, just a bit bored. It's also not disappointing enough for me make fun of it - though I really enjoyed Garten's got excellent mouseovers.

Erst Erfuellung, Anfang der Bewegung, Anfang des Nervenanschlusses, Also loese sie es von links kleidung, Synchro start! ... You're thinking in Japanese! If you must think, do it in German!!

Ok, strudel, bratwurst...
Fate/Stay Night 13

The aftermath of Rider's equine wave counter-measures have disrupted Saber's connection to the Shinso of Ahoge, Katagiri-sama. Rin warns that unless Saber gets some soon, she will disappear. Being dumb and impotent, Shirou gets captured by Ilya while angsting about being righteous and shit. Due to Shirou's current preference for blonde British girls, Ilya's loli powers fail to tempt him and she decides to use the Kaede I strategy - i.e. kill the competition. Time to equip Berserker with giant boxcutter! Meanwhile Saber, Rin and Archer advance on Loliland. Sakura, by now the Kurumi Momose of this series, is probably invisibly crying by her window.

So you've finally figured out that Shinji has a
Weapon of Mass Haremstruction program? /
Well done, baka Shirou has learnt Shinji's true identity -
Kim 'I'm so ronery' Jong Il!

Fate/Stay night 11
Major character developments! Who would have expected our stoic Saber, advocate of gender apathy, to lie like an embarassed schoolgirl in this ep. Sweet! But really, the item deserving of a global celebration is the awakening of Shirou from his juvenile dream (a nightmare for us) of a righteous hero.
After 10 eps of fans' cursing and Zyl's maki-makis (I'm sure Shirou was getting hemorroids from it all), Shirou FINALLY shows some testicular fortitude to do what is takes to protect his love ones. While many leapt for joy as Shirou plummeted towards his death, I actually jumped out of my seat triumphly when he discarded his pride/idiocy to summon Saber to his aid. Granted, he took almost half the series to hit such an important realisation but this mental maturity was accompanied by huge advances in both his magical and melee abilities. (See how he pwned Shinji.) Shirou has definitely grown. Really, I'm just SOOOO glad, this is not happening only in ep 23 like ahem other productions.
Loved the action in this ep too. Although I felt Rider seemed rather shortchanged. If she can't beat the Knight-classed Saber nor the mage-classed Caster, is she then just cannon fodder in this war? Moreover, a wuss like Shinji is gotta hold Rider responsible for his losses and I shuddered at what the depraved Shinji would do to exact punishment.
Anyhow, now with Shirou's idiotic naivety out of the way and Saber/Shirou's meeting of minds on each other's roles, we can now concentrate on harem fun and the story proper. Sakura's back on air next week. Can't wait for ep 12.
Fate/Stay Night 11

What a prick! If Shirou hadn't woken up his idea and didn't do what he did, I think I might have come within two inches of dropping the series in disgust since it's hard to enjoy a series when you utterly detest the main character. It is thus with great relief that the series seems to have gotten out of its rut. The pace has picked up and Shirou is not so useless or pigheaded anymore.

Arrgghh! Sakura chan only appeared for 2 secs and said a 2 syllabic word this ep! Oh wait... that's an improvement over her non-appearance the last week.. ah well. Despite the lack of Sakura/action/harem-fun, I was very entertained by Saber's antics and Ilya's loli-sweetness in this installment of F/SN.
I'm sure loli-siscon fans rejoiced as ep 10 spent quality screentime on the sweet, shirt-tugging Ilya. I must admit I viewed Ilya with great suspicion initially. When she first appeared acting so saccharine, I thought Shirou is doomed for a 2nd death at her hands possibly via diabetes. The mental alarms blared even louder when she claimed, "I don't have any enemies." which extrapolates for me, "Because Berserker has them for supper." (Btw, I'm still trying to figure out what's Ilya/Berserker's common trait although both Kabitzin and Hasselich have offered some possibilities.) However, her innocent demeanour and love for taiyaki eroded my defenses rather quickly. Yes, I'm weak to taiyaki-loving-lolitas as Kurogane is to tsunderekkos.
*Dreamy sigh* Yet another lovely anime personality to look forward to weekly.
Saber's real fun this ep too with her mini-lecture on nekkid-Servant-protocols. Since I have a little knowledge on the hero Saber is model after, I couldn't help but read the scene this way.... I also worry for Rider if this nekkid clause in found in the Servant's handbook, knowing how depraved Shinji is.
On another note, my thick numbskull finally deciphered this repeat scene to be Shirou's inability to power his 'magical circuit'. Bah! some engineer I am. I wonder if his future magical awakening would be symbolised by an exploding walnut SEED. (Which reminds me... the Matou siblings already have SEEDed eyes. Now if Sakura would only pwn Rin in a magical duel...:P)
Hoping for more harem fun next week.
