Xellos takes 400 points of life affirming damage

Summary: The Kampfers and their Entrails Animals switch bodies; the latter revel in their fleshy bodies and have a love-in with Kaede. Everyone has a Merry Christmas except the people trapped in the dolls' bodies. And possibly Mentar.

Long winded summary: Mommy Natsuru starts reading her daughter a story. Natsuru and Harakiri Tiger wake up to find they have switched bodies... with some changes. The latter proceeds to dress up in some really trashy clothes and, after binning Natsuru Tiger, goes galvanting in the streets. And is joined by the other Entrail Animals in their respective Kampfer bodies. They discover the pleasure having organs other than intestines; their intestines hot pot meal rapidly descends into chaos.

Unable to pay for their meal to the Class Committee Trio, they are made to perform in cosplay but enjoy it anyway. After completely disrobing on stage, they are rescued by Kaede who, like everyone else, thinks Natsuru is a different person because of the tiger ears, tail and different voice. Kaede feels they are like family and asks them for a date. They go to Entrails Land amusement park and enjoy its various macabre rides. The final attraction is a game which mainly involves nimbling Kaede but she runs off, feeling guilty for enjoying her harem. Her confession is heard by the Nun Class Committee trio and has to work off her sins in all kinds of odd jobs. But she rescued from her drudgery by the Entrail Kampfers who remembered her love for their doll forms.

They prepare to battle the Trio but their joy at being able to experience pain persuades the Trio that it is their loss. Saying goodbye and that they will always love her and can always meet Kaede again in another form, the four vanish as it starts snowing. Mommy Natsuru finishes reading the story and chats with Daddy Natsuru and Santa Kaede distributes Entrails Animals from the sky.

It's almost the studio was anticipating the response to the ending of Ep 11: "Senseless!? THIS IS KAMPFEEEEEER!!!!! Have some kimochi warui for everyone to chew on for the holidays! wwwwww"

Well, it was fun to see the Entrails Animals voice actresses having a riot. Yukari Tamura bullying Nana Mizuki is always good. Kaede's Entrails Animals mania, while not as AWSM as Bible Black Eyes Kaede, is always a treat for me.

Natsuru needs car accident to unlock Harakiri Tiger powers

Summary:

Natsuru visits Shizuku at her house where she lives alone as her parents travel around the world on business. She wants to talk about Burnt Alive Lion that she's pinched from Kaede; it's the original Messenger. Shizuku gets the lion explain the what and why of Kampfer - it's a form of proxy combat between two alien powers. She takes him to his room and recovers his memories by kissing him; Kaede ordered it because Shizuku is defying the Moderators. Shizuku is motivated by her dislike of being a puppet but also as revenge for Tamiko-senpai. She asks Natsuru for help against the Moderators. Natsuru visits Kaede to confirm things for himself and Bible Black Eyes Kaede reveals herself, changing Natsuru into Girl Type. BBE Sakura asks a betwitched Natsuru to always stay a girl and to fight for her, saying she needs Natsuru to defeat her friends; Sakura pecks Natsuru on the cheek and promises more if she succeeds. Summoned by Natsuru, the anti-Moderator trio of Mikoto, Akane and Shizuku rush to the school rooftop and ambushed by Team White. The Whites are easily defeated but Natsuru Girl Type shows up and attacks them.

Akane and Shizuku attempt to immobilize Natsuru but their attacks are blocked by a dual-wielding BBE Kaede who easily takes out Akane and Mikoto and then Shizuku with Natsuru's help. Later the trio awaken and Kaede tells them they are to be gotten rid for rebelling, that the White Kampfer were created to defeat them and she will make Natsuru Girl Type her ally. Kaede has waited for them to wake up so that she can have Natsuru, who has chosen to be a girl and thus side with Kaede, to deal the final blow instead. But Natsuru sees the sea slug memento he bought for Shizuku and breaks the mind control. She tells Kaede she loves her but she won't cooperate with her as she has the feeling that he will lose something precious. Kaede sword-charges Natsuru but Shizuku breaks free and intercepts. Team Red-Blue powers up, cheered on by their Entrails Animals, and proceeds to outclass Team White. Kaede turns to Natsuru but the latter turns back into a guy and Team White retreats. Shizuku kisses Natsuru, followed by Mikoto and Akane giving him their first kisses. Things quickly escalate and we get a harem ending for this season.

Reaction:

The 'ending' reminded me a lot of the end of the first season of Asura Cryin' - the pieces are put together and the protagonists see the whole picture for the first time. It then sets up the next season for them to act on their discoveries. I was particularly cheered by Natsuru's straight arrow: I love you Kaede but I won't sacrifice my dear ~~harem~~ friends! What a man! (Even though, like Kaede, I much prefer Natsuru as a woman.)

Overall, a very satisfying pause until the fun and hilarity resumes. At least I now know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Kaede, whether BBE or not, really is a lesbian and I will watch her quest to claim Natsuru Girl Type for herself (and the Moderators) with great interest.

I don't quite understand why Kurogane and Epi have a WHAT reaction to this episode. It is perfectly intelligible (and describable); it certainly makes more sense than, say, the ending of Gundam SEED Destiny or Hellsing (the Gonzo version) or Kare Kano or Mai HiME or *insert random anime*. As for the sudden alien twist, well, haven't we seen it before in Battle Athletes already? That's not an atypical plot twist outside of animu either (see Anagnorisis x Science).

The only thing I did not understand was Kaede's plan to get male Natsuru to sleep with Shizuku - certainly that would distract Shizuku from investigating the Moderators for a while but how would that re-ignite Blue versus Red hostilities? Was Kaede then going to mind-control Natsuru into not calling Shizuku after the morning after?

Summary:

Akane, she of the weird math and righteous jealousy, recovers from her fainting spell and Shizuku gathers her posse, who were distracted by Akane, to search for Sakura and Natsuru. Our harem lead is outside watching the fireworks but cannot remember how he got there with Bible Black Eyes Kaede (just realized that's her given name and Sakura is her family name) who puts the moves on him while asking him what he thinks about Shizuku. The Rivals Trio are unable to find them and, during their rendevous, do SWOT analysis. Back on the Natsuru front, Kaede is really pimping Shizuku to Natsuru to prevent the very capable Shizuku from becoming an obstacle to the Moderators' plans. As things hot up, Mikoto charges in but Kaede disappears. Followed by Akane. And then Shizuku.

His memory was that he was alone. They don't believe him and march him back to the room only to meet Kaede who confirms that Natsuru was not with her and suggests they all go for a bath. In the room, Natsuru is asked for a kiss by Akane but the atmosphere is destroyed by the Entrails Animals. Shizuku calls and orders Natsuru to turn up in the baths as Girl Type and gets groped by Akane and Kaede. Shizuku tries to get Natsuru to recall what happened goes into trance. Natsuru is alone again with Kaede who reverts to BBE mode as soon they are alone, telling her: "You know what to do." Natsuru drops by Shizuku's room where he becomes aggressive with her. Suspicious (I approve!), she demands to know the reason and eventually her kiss breaks the trance and he is able to tell her that Sakura put him up to this. She knocks him out. Meanwhile Kaede rues the uselessness of men and the failure of her plan and mobilizes her harem of White Kampfers. The next morning Shizuku cooks up a cover story that Natsuru had fainted in the corridor but BBE Kaede whispers to her about her foolish pride.

Reaction:

Neither Mikoto nor Akane can understand why Shizuku is interested in Natsuru. Ditto me. But surely a part of her interest has been heightened by his lack of interest in her. It seems that we always want someone or something more when we can't have it.

Kaede's criticism of Natsuru is being lame is IMHO unfair. Firstly, Natsuru loves and wants Kaede so much he doesn't see any other girl as a potential girlfriend thus the almost willful denseness. Faithfulness is not a virtue anymore? From this angle, Natsuru doesn't realize that Shizuku is only doing what she does to him because she likes him; he, quite reasonably, sees it as her bullying him for her own amusement.

His reason for not considering Shizuku because she is older is nonsense though. She's only one year older. While a small gap can make a big diff emotionally and percentile-wise (ah the problems of young love), there's nothing wrong with an older Oneechan-type girl - one of the many advantages is that she is often able and willing to teach you all sorts of interesting things.

This week's Embarrassed Natsuru Girl Type was faplicious too.
