Alter Shigure Asa :: Grassy field in the evening

Posted by

As usual, I should have seen it coming. Or rather, I should have heard it coming. The running footfalls approaching from behind. The intake of breadth. Perhaps even the swinging of her arm through the air. There was, of course, no missing either the loud greeting of "HELLO!" and the slap on the back.

'You sure are late going home today!' she chirped.

'You too, Asa-senpai.'

No new Asa footage in Ep 4 so I've skipped it. Omni's post already covers all the main points anyway.

Some commenters on my post about the previous episode were disappointed by the lack of new material, other than the OP/EDs. I'm beginning to suspect that, if the new OPs are a reliable guide, the second episode of each girl's story (?) will be about how each girl gets Rin. Therefore there is a possibility, currently still slight, of seeing Sia, Nerine, Yandere Kaede and *gasp* Primula endings. That last pairing is what causes me to feel that, of course, asread could just be jerking our chains and preparing to spring a SUNRISE on us.

I made my guess above because of the way the Kaede OP ends with her kissing Rin AND now we see Rin forcing Asa to use her magic with some kind of amulet instead of the boxcutter. I'm generally quite a believer in OP?? (fortune telling) - quite a few can be considered to be a good summary of an entire series' plot or of a particular arc. If the OPs for the other girls show the same thing, then my anticipation will grow. The reason for this may be due to the demand from fans of the SHUFFLE! game (which the 24 episode WOWOW broadcast was based on) and that there is considerable demand, given that the SHUFFLE! game apparently sold very well despite being released on the same day as a TYPEMOON release. Thus, each girl's first episode sets up the possibility of her getting together with Rin and then the second one realizes it. Or we could just get recap again and the alternative ending is just confined to the OP.

In any case, big thanks to moyism for providing the raw. :) I'm definitely enjoying the OP/EDs. Loads of Asa screenies follow:

SHUFFLE! Memories 1

As observed by Omni, hardly any new stuff. LOL'ed at Rin's description of Asa as a "super woman". The format seems to be setting up how Rin got to know each of the girls (thus fitting with the new and quite nice YURIA OP, Fateful Encounters). If there have thirteen episodes in total, then it's possible we might get two episodes dedicated to each haremette (Kaede, Sia, Nerine, Primula and Asa) and still have two left for completely new material. Or we could have one episode each but also including Eustoma & Forbeshi, Itsuki, Ama, Mayumi, Beni-sensei and Kareha with new material spliced into each with space for one entirely new episode. Could also be that there isn't going to be an alternative ending or that they're going to have all the other alternative endings other than the canonical Asa end from the original WOWOW broadcast. More answers next week!

The orzdoration of the lolicons

Posted by

Then the King of Lolicons called the PPP secretly and found out from them the exact place the image had appeared. He sent them to Japan and said, 'Go and make a careful search for the loli. As soon as you find her, report to me, so that I may go and worship her.'

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the original illustration collection they had seen on the web went ahead of them until the search engines stopped over the place where the loli was. When they saw the collection, they were overjoyed. On coming to the place, they saw the loli as illustrated by Itou Noizi, and they orzed and worshipped her. Then they opened their treasures and presented her with gifts of camellia and of loli-meido-siscon uniform and of purr. Because a cat is fine too.

Apologies to Matthew (the Apostle rather than the animeblogger) and everyone else who gets annoyed by this perverse take on a motif of the festive season. OTL

In Praise of Yuko Goto

Posted by

Aya Hirano has many fans and it's well deserved. She's young, pretty and the way she transitions from her normal squeaky voice to 'Damesho, Hamada-san' is just ooooh-la-la.

However, this post is to sing the praises of Yuko Goto who voiced Mikuru Asahina alongside Aya Hirano in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. While Mikuru isn't my favourite character of the series (coming after Yuki in first place, followed by Haruhi and then Kyon), Goto does a magnificient job in conveying Mikuru's oh-so-bullyable bimbo haplessness and her gentle kindness. I've mentioned before how I was in total awe at how she could sing so badly with such deliberateness despite being able to sing well. [Oh, and somehow she makes Mikuru's voice so voluptuous too. Ya know, the way Mai Nakahara makes Mai Tokiha sound DD in a way that she doesn't do when she voiced Nagisa Aoi.] Mikuru's character is absolutely inseparable from Goto's performance. I still smirk with evil amusement whenever I hear her "Nooo~~~!!" when Haruhi forced her to change into the nurse costume in Someday in the Rain. [I also constantly replayed the horror movie "uguu"s in Kanon 6 and Makoto's Akiko Jam "auuu"s in Kanon 7 so that I could laugh at the respective girls' misery.] The perfect victim!

Speaking of victims, I demand a version of this NSFW Wawawa comic where Churuya-san walks in on Haruhi rogering Mikuru with a strap-on and goes "nyoro~n" :3

Congratulations to Alafista for winning the RIUVA Anime (de)Motivational Poster contest as well as to DarkMirage and Tsubaki for coming in second and third respectively. My vote went to mt-i's entry. I hasten to add, before he posted his comment indicating that he had voted for my entry; simply loved the incongruity between the words and headline image.

Kudoes to tjhan for organizing this community-building event - I enjoyed so many of the other entries. In line with positive warmth, the headline image for this post is motivational rather than my usual sardonic / demotivational ones. Aside from the Belinda Carlisle reference, non-watchers of 2005's best harem series SHUFFLE! might fairly ask what is the Shinkai? Literally the "world of gods" or less literally as "Heaven" and where a male to have more than one wife - the Shin King Eustoma himself has three. Though sometimes I wonder to myself if Kareha is just going after Rin so that she can be with Asa. :P
