Oh good grief, this series brings back so many memories, many of them not good at all at the time of the events in question but with the passage of time and the safety of hindsight, have become humurous and even nostaglic. There were a few times when, due to budgetary pressure and messed up logsitics, we were not issued any blank rounds for our fire and movement training. So we were told to shout "BANG BANG BANG!!!" as we scrambled around the training area. BOOMZ.

Come on you guys, hontou ni...

I really liked this week's theme of craftsmanship - the endless journey of mastering a skill.

No natto?

In the mood for food. Not exactly after school tea time but still a pretty impressive spread, considering that one of the themes brought out in this episode was how under-supplied 1121 is.

Thankfully none of the troops on the train were lolicons

Finally picked up this series, during this relatively quiet winter season, due to the glowing guest review over at Okazu. I had been somewhat put off by how the characters resembled the KON! cast. I enjoyed KON! just fine but the idea of it being transplanted to a military context was very unappealing. Thankfully Sora no Woto is quite a different kettle of fish, especially the way this series reminds me of other anime, a string of family resemblences that sing a siren song of the possibility of drama, something which also hooked Suguru (via Ani-nouto).
