CANAAN 6-7

Maria is captured when the Snakes take over the convention centre and unleash the Ua virus on the VVIPs in the bunker.
My delight knows no bounds as Liang Qi gives Maria a good kicking - SUGOI SUGOI SUGOI!
CANAAN 4
Canaan x Alphard >>>>> Canaan x Maria
Many things about this episode pleased me even as my assessment of this series is downgraded from expectations of Kara no Kyoukai epicness to B-grade TYPE MOON-inspired bubblegum entertainment:
CANAAN 2-3
Maria-san is being watched
My reservations WRT yuri siscon, I take them all back WRT Liang Qi. Maybe because it's faux siscon. Or maybe because it's Tanaka Rie goodness. It's such a pity that she's flagged for death but I'm going to enjoy Liang Qi goodness while it lasts - ah, so good that I'm Cummings!
Never mind the bollocks

All my bandwidth were belong to Kara no Kyoukai 5. Everything else went to the back of the queue over the six days (not including office hours since I use my personal laptop at work) the TYPE MOON/ufotable goodness dripped down the pipe through a really crap connection. How I envy Adun for having seen it on the big screen!
There's so much about it that I want to gush about but, at this point, I'd just like to respond to the query from Evirus about how I felt about Maaya Sakamoto voicing both Shikis.
Driving force not to blame for vehicle breakdown
Evirus' puzzlement about the lack of a category for Ouran Host Club in hontou ni sou omou? is now a matter to be addressed in the past tense. I vaguely remember dropping Ouran very late in the series. That was unusual, for me, because, usually, if I had watched so much of a series, I tend to hang on to the bitter end.
It wasn't so much the slump, noted by Kabitzin (though he did enjoy it overall) and Ender, that got to me but a growing frustration from how I felt the characters' relationships did not grow as much as I felt they could. But it's been two years already and my memories are foggy. Checking back on my CD-Rs, DVD-Rs and external HDD, I have found that I didn't even keep a copy of the series. Wow, I must have been really quite frustrated with it.
Of course, Maaya Sakamoto was not to blame. I agree completely with Evirus' observation that the series would not have worked without her: 'Rich bastards!!'
I’m so there too / At the Border of Emptiness
ufotable animation and Kajiura Yuki music brought Evirus into the Garden of Sinners. I got hooked when I learnt that Sakamoto Maaya was voicing Ryougi Shiki. After all, she voiced Lunamaria Hawke who is the patron megami of this anime blog and my Maaya love was recently bolstered by the Oneesama appeal of Lal'C Mell Mark.
The first episode of Kara no Kyoukai was impressive... Most impressive. Reminded me of many of the things that I liked about Ghost in the Shell: Innocence - the grimey and decaying environs, the doll/mannequin motif, the general sense of brooding and mystery, a kick ass female lead (who leaps off buildings...) etc.
But, in all honesty, the real trigger was this Shiki figurine... I never buy a figure from a series I've not seen. I've got to like the chara first and foremost and then and only then do I look at whether aesthetic and PVC quality are worthy of the chara.
