Good grief, if ever there was a thankless job, fansubbing would be it. The trigger was:
I’ve gotten so tired of fan sub groups and their shitty subs and fitting in over 9000 internet memes into one episode. So f*ck fan subs. [Doh, forgot about the AnimeNano filter.]
I have my pet gripes wrt some fansub groups re: timeliness, (lack of) completion, (adaptation of) honorifics, (lack of xdcc/weak seeding) distro, (retreat of AVI) encoding blah blah blah but, at the end of the day, hey it's free (as in beer), thanks guys and gals for all your hard work! Well at least one positive is that Koji Oe will be using his aggressive feelings to become a Dark Lord of Badass Raw Watching (BRW) and Watching Anime for Enjoyment. All the best!
The feasibility of BRW varies from series to series though. As absolute0 observed:
When Mouryou no Hako came out, I attempted to blog from the raws but the show proved too difficult for my Nihongo skills. In the end, I stopped blogging about it.
I can't help but fantasize about how Japan Foundation, JESS and JAM will put together some kind of certification scheme around a Japanese Anime Language Proficiency Test where JALPT N1 means you are officially recognized to be able to go forth and BRW Ghost in the Shell, GA:GADC, Yuki Nagato's explanations etc. without any problems. No guarantees about its usability outside outside of Akiba, Otome Road and Nakano Broadway though.
Ayako didn't release GA:GADC subs on a weekly basis but praise be to them for having completed the whole series; I'm still in agony over the yet-to-released sub for the final episode of Mouryou no Hako.
I have the batch for Geijutsuka downloaded and tucked away but I have not managed to get beyond the first episode (which I watched just after its initial release). My problem is two-fold; I haven't found a second blogger to fulfill the requirements of my Two Blogger Rule for ordering All Systems Go on watching a new (to me) series. Some of the strongest advocates of GA:GADC got head but no tail.
Sakura Wars TV Series 1 (Reviewed 2003-02-10, Updated 2003-11-23)
Based on the console game, the TV series draws on the very first version (have lost count of the number of subsequent versions). This is set in an alternative 1920s setting where the Taisho era didn't all go horribly wrong and Imperial Japan is quite nice and not militaristic or fascist at all. Oh, there was this Great Demonic War just five years ago too and it's Steampunk.
What a turnaround it's been for Asura Cryin' - I checked out the first two eps, on Xellos-_^'s suggestion, for Tanaka Rie goodness and was quite ambivalent about it; miko x giant mecha x world destruction mix (or what IKnight called a meze) has already been done by Kannazuki no Miko, ya know? And the latter had nonsense doramaz yuri to boot.
Thus spake Yuuko Ishihara:
There is no such thing as coincidence, only hitsuzen.
Thus spake Lupus:
Dear Seleria, Because I’m such a BADASS LIGHT NOVEL READER, I must reveal the true reason why Taiga was "out on the street just in time for Minorin to see." It wasn’t entirely co-incidence. After being told by Taiga that Ryuuji was going to confess to her, Minorin wanted a final confirmation that Taiga didn't like Ryuuji, so she went to Taiga's place. Lo and behold, she sees Taiga going emo and screaming "RYUUUUUJIIIIII WRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
Another reason why good comments are as good as gold, blogs are all the more richer for them.

I was going to title the post 'Touma is Dumb and must be Destroyed' but I've come to the belated realization that I've been blaming Kamijyo Touma too much for my unhappiness with the Index anime. Too much crap comes out of his mouth but, hey, that's the sad duty being the main chara. Even so I enjoyed hearing him being killed twice in the Index-tan DVD special. Go Kaori and Stiyl!

Like totali, the latest episode of Kannagi has gotten me rooting [Kabitzin Geass canceller ACTIVATE!] cheering for Tsugumi too. But, in our previous discussions, Stripey won't even place Tsugumi in the running. The reason? He didn't like her hair style and her large forehead.
of mine is when I'm trying to read a post and the text gets pushed down repeatedly as images load. [Add: Blog owners who don't realize this because the images are already preloaded in their browser caches in the course of drafting their posts, get a clue already please.]
This can be megas irritating when a post has a lot of images. It's also particularly egregious since this issue can be easily overcome by adding 'width="a in px" height="b in px" ' in the img src HTML tag or 'style="width: Apx; height:Bpx;" '; I'm sure the CSS whizs will have even better suggestions. Inputting image height and width have also been incorporated into WordPress rich visual editor.
Why oh why oh why doesn't everyone do it? Come on, guys, gals and traps, it ain't rocket science!
It's been almost 2 weeks since my last intake of School Days at ep 06 but I still haven't found the courage to pursue the series even though I have up till ep 11 on my hard-disk. It doesn't help that I have surmised from snatches of subsequent episodic summaries that things got A LOT worse. Now I enjoy a good tragedy but School Days take it way beyond sad to the epic proportions of haremic holocaust. You know you should stop watching a series when you are often overwhelmed by the powerful urge to smash your brand new 42" LCD TV during viewing.
I'm sure there'll come many MANY more reasons for me to discontinue School Days after ep 06, but for now, there are already 3 rather potent reasons for my temporary abandonment of the series.
